My pc specs are i7 870, hd 5770, 8 gigs of ram, windows 7 home premium 64 bit. Im fairly new to pc gaming and i just started not too long ago. I installed dragon age origins, after windows 7 told me to install in compatability mode for windows xp sp2, the game itself runs but when it recommended what settings i should run at, it put everything to the lowest graphics settings. Ive had this problem with borderlands too, but i put my settings to max anyway and it runs fairly well. No slowdown indoors, but when outdoors i get slowdown when alot in the distance and turning my character. It seems i should be able to run this game no problem, am i not running using all cores? I really want to play like this game should be played....

Actually, I think the real question needs to be, "What graphics drivers are you using?"   But the very bad Geforces from 2004 were the FX 5n00 series.  Maybe this time, this game wanted to identify an HD 57xx as an FX 5700. 

Sorry, I didn't actually address the OP here.  We need some more information.  An HD 5770 is a fairly good card, from the high end of the medium ranks -- it is not an HD 5850, so it cannot run games with both high screen resolutions and high graphics quality settings.  Go ahead and fill out the rest of a problem report to use as a basis here.

its actually playing a bit better now, i disabled v sync and i really dont have much tearing and it seems to have smoothed out my framerate a bit, im trying to run at 1080 maxed out, maybe the 5770 just isnt quite enough. but like i said running much much better

oh and my graphics drivers are ati catalyst 11.5 they updated through windows 7
