Okay so I think I might be in the minority who felt like Anderson is a bit of an ass in that situation:

Shep: Where's Kaidan?
Anderson: I can't tell you.

Kaidan: Is Shep really alive?
Anderson: I can't tell you.

<_< I understand it might be military regs especially if Kaidan was under his spectre testing but he threw fuel on the Horizon fire imo.

I was forced to work for Cerberus sense BW wouldn't let me ask anyone for help out of the situation.

Don't you see that this knife cuts both ways?  If it's not Shepard's fault that she could act no other way due to Bioware writing her into that situation, then some bad writing on Kaidan's part can't be his fault either.

I think the best way to look at this is that both Shepard and Kaidan were in unenviable situations and didn't say and do the best possible things, but ultimately want to save the galaxy and have some care and respect for each other.  With good will, they can work through any difficulties.  If some people's Shepards don't want to, though, that's their choice.

This is what it boils down to, for me.  I still say that Shepard *should* have had the option to express disgust, outrage, and full on rebellion, when it came to working with Cerberus.  But this is how the story was written, and as a player, I'm along for the ride.

I just hope, as a player, I'm able to express how unhappy I was with Shepard's working with Cerberus, in ME3.

If he says that, if he mutters that, if he even THINKS that too loud, I am going to use my emotion interrupt and slug him. And then I will ask him on which Alliance station he wants to be deboarded. I am in need of allies, and I do like to be reasonable, but there is a limit to what my Shepard can take after witnessing the Earth being invaded by the Reapers. Shepard is under a lot of stress, he just had to flee and leave humanity at the Reapers' mercy, and the last thing he needs is an inane "I told you so" from someone who already betrayed him months ago.

Cerberus burned all the bridges for you, destroyed your reputation while you were in a coma, untill even the person who personaly selected you for the Normandy didn't want to trust you (Anderson), and he presumably knew you a lot longer then Kaidan and Ashley.  according to Hackett (who is almost as cautious as Anderson, despite his presence on the Normandy) - alliance has been evacuating all the colonies that they could and VS?  were sent into terminus to help out the colonies there, despite the fact that alliance is not welcome there to the point of system war being possible if they so much as inch close to the borders openly. Cerberus was manipulating you, railroading you, setting you up again and again, all the while making excuses about all those "rogue" cells, some of which you cleaned up after in ME1... with VS at your side.

Kaidan/Ashley spent years grieving, blaming themselves for obeying your order and not helping you with joker, and what do they hear?  carefuly placed rumors about you being alive and working with cerberus and hey, there's a tip that cerberus is planning on hittting this particular colony next and lo and behond it gets hit and who shows up next?  you, who didn't bother to contact them... on a cerberus vesel, confirming with your own words that yes, you are working for (with, but lets be honest, not much of a distinction there)  Cerberus.

who betrayed whom exactly?

I do hope that in ME3, if you made choices that were anti Cerberus, they apologize and say that they should have listened to you and if you were pro cerberus?  I hope they are cold and mistrustful and barely civil, unless you work damn hard to earn their trust back.

As usual, I like your posts, jeweledleah. :) I do hope they put some of that depth in the ME3 conversations with the Virmire Survivor.
femShep. Always supporting character depth.

You know, more and more I am coming to appreciate the Horizon situation.

At first, I was outraged that I did not have the option for Shep to tell Kaidan that she had been dead for those two years. That Cerberus had really resurrected her and that she wanted to ally Cerberus and the Alliance (she was always asking after Kaidan and suggesting that TIM ask for Alliance backup after all).

Over time, and reading a lot of other people's posts on the boards, I'm beginning to see it more this way:

Most people do not say the right thing at the right time. I don't know about you guys and gals, but every time I've ever fought with my loved ones, I think of the best things to say after the moment has passed. So, whether or not BioWare intended it this way, I see the Horizon conversation as Kaidan/Ashley speaking out of surprise/shock and a feeling of rejection, not thinking rationally. And Shep being so happy to see the VS that they cannot think of an appropriate response after seemingly being attacked by the one person that they were so desperately hoping to see.

Which makes it even better writing, to me!

While I agree, I think the one big problem was that Bioware left no room for closure with the VS in ME2. Liara even got her own DLC dedicated to her story and relationship with Shep but VS was left with just an email we couldn't even respond to.

Who's Kaiden?

And Ashley is the one with the catsuit that we have no idea if she's going to wear all the time.

If you insist on passing "judgement" at least identify your targets properly.

Fool, do you know nothing?

Catsuits for everyone.

I fully expect Kaiden to get a catsuit, some implants for his chest and butt, and a pole to dance on.

Well, I've never heard of this Kaiden myself - but Kaidan, on the other hand, is my favourite squadmate from ME1, even if you might have left him behind on Virmire.  :P

Everyone wants Kaiden in a catsuit. They're lieing to themselves when they deny it.

Kaiden should also have cuts in his catsuit to show off his rear. After all, we all want it shaking in our faces.

Though he may need implants.

You showed up on Horizon working for a terrorist group after being "dead" for two years. How the hell did you expect him to react?

Haven't we had this fight before? Image IPB

If he was a former squaddie alone, then he was perfectly within his right to be suspicious of you and leave. If he was a former LI, I'd think he'd give you a chance to explain before giving you the brush-off.

Fail on the part of the writing team, in my opinion.

Yeah, have to go with fail writing as the reason.

Within the game though, he didn't know you were dead for 2 years, only that you'd been spotted hanging out with terrorists - which was confirmed on Horizon.  Also, he brought up that you didn't call/write in that time.  Being dead is one thing, but you had the option of asking TIM for his whereabouts, so firing off a message saying "Hey, I'm alive, what's shakin'?" isn't completely unreasonable.

I know. That's what I'm saying. Should've been handled differently. There are still ways to keep them from joining you where they don't come off as snobbish.
Then again, if you talk to the Anderson before you meet him on Horizon, he says Alenko's work is classified, so maybe you couldn't have contaced him anyway. Image IPB

URG! Sorry, but no one, not even Kaidan, should be subjected to dancing in @ssless catsuits. That's just a little too '80s David Lee Roth for me.

I'm just a little torqued about the whole Horizon thing myself. The writing for both sides was horrible. Maybe it has something to do with how I can choose a dialogue option that says "I've been dead for two years" only to hear my my femSheps say something that bears no actual resemblance to that dialogue option just before the whole conversation vears off into a wild argument.

There better be some kind of very, very satisfying closure to the whole situation that allows for an actual explanation and resolution to the situation in ME3.
