Isn't that before the CE was finalized and up for pre-order? I recall that the basic version was available for pre-order a good deal of time before the CE.

Gamestop apparently never allowed pre-orders of the CE. So far I haven't heard a single story about a succesful CE-pre-order from Gamestop. I'm still a bit furious that I don't know what I'll be getting if I just buy the CE instead of pre-ordering it.
They did, they just sold out, as did Best Buy(360).

You have a CE Pre-order from GameStop?!
Check your order if you haven't done it recently.
In the last week or so, there have been stories of unadulterated and true horror filling the forums regarding GameStop switching people's pre-orders of the CE to normal edition, and turning the difference into store credit. As I said, if you haven't checked the order recently recently, do it now, before you get screwed.

My paranoid bent keeps me checking it at least once a day.... reciept still says CE.

I went back and looked at those threads again. It seems like if you preordered in-store, you're probably okay, but particularly with the Online site-to-home or site-to-store preorders, people are gettin' screwed left and right.
Just be careful out there. This is one game you don't wanna have your order messed up on in these last few days before release.

There was a very small window of opportunity to pick-up the PC or Xbox 360 CE from Gamestop. They were first available for pre-order early August and by the end of August (Only about 2 weeks later) they had overshot their quota and dropped the option. The PS3 version of the CE stayed available for quite some time though, I think it might even still be an option?
But yes the Pre-order for the PC CE and 360 CE was there back in August, I saw it with my own eyes and I just didn't jump on it quick enough. I waited about 2 weeks and bam it was gone. I have since learned to live without getting the Feral Wolf Charm

I went on Oct. 07 to pre-order my CE and of course I was denied, the associate told me that they only do CE one month in advance... my jaw dropped. I asked "one month?, today is the 7th" they respond "yes, it comes out on the 3rd" as my blood is boiling I continue to pursue. "You really have no more copies left to sell, you're completely sold out" I ask. They respond "We cannot really tell you if we have any left, we were told to stop taking pre-orders one month prior to release" and THEN they proceed to ask "How much can I put you down for a standard copy, and if they're are any CE left you can purchase it" I cannot express the vulgarities I wanted to envelope on that SOaB but luckily another retailer (my NEW gaming outpost) had some left and now I'm back in my happy place. The End.

Ah, ok, so they just lied to me. How nice of them. Anyway, do I get Shale, Blood Dragon and the three items if I just buy it and not pre-order it? Because I have a pre-order of the standard edition, but if I don't lose anything buying the CE, I'll buy that instead and cancel the pre-order. That is if anyone has any CE's to sell.

I don't remember off-hand if the in-game items are pre-order only or not, I'll see if I can't track down the info off of the main site.
Edit: It isn't specific, as the only information on the main site is pertaining to what's included, and not whether it's included only in Preorder or as just part of the new copies of the CE.
I'll keep looking.
The EAStore seems to imply that ANY of the special in-game content only comes with pre-order... Somehow, that seems wrong to me... It is EA, after all... However, I could just be mistaken...
I can't recall if the in-game items included in the CE are a Rave Card or not, but I would think they'd have to be, as it's gotta be included in-box in order for people to be able to collect on this stuff using in-store preorders... Or EA just sends you an Email once you tie the game to an EA account, but that's only absolutely necessary with the Digital Download versions, in order to authenticate the game, so it seems unlikely...
I think, and don't take my word for this, do your own research, but I think, if you just walk-in first thing in the morning and get your hands on a non-preorder copy if you can, you'll still get the bonuses.

I ended up just preordering the DDE. I won't be able to go in and pick it up on release day, on account of getting my wisdom teeth removed, and I wanted extra goodies like the soundtrack and making of, or dev diaries, or whatever that part is, so the Digital Download is perfect for my situation; I can wake up, start the DL, and be out the door in time for my appointment. And it comes with Warden's Keep, which is just a nice little bonus.

Shale and the Armor, to my understanding, are included in every new copy of the game.
Correct. They come with every new copy of the game, CE and standard, boxed and digital, pre-order or not.
The 3 CE bonus items (Final Reason, Bergen's Honor and the Grimore of Frozen Wastes) are on a card inside the box. Only if you buy the DDE you get them by email (unless you live in the UK, then you don't get them at all with the DDE).
All other in-game items are pre-order bonus items and are given out by the shop itself (including the Memory Band)... while supplies last.
