So, The Reapers are Transformers (TM)?

So, are The Reapers living machines that can transfor... I mean, "change" from large dreadnaughts to somewhat smaller walking tanks akin to Scarabs in the Halo universe?
Does this explain what is seen here: www.youtube.com/watch at the 9 second mark?

It's much, much smaller than a Reaper dreadnought. Shepard is within 30 feet of one of its legs as he passes under it; if that were Sovereign or Harbinger's size, the tip of its leg-tentacles would absolutely dwarf Shepard.
I mean really. There is absolutely no way that mobile platform is two kilometers long/tall. I refuse to believe you'd think so.
Edit: nevermind all this. I see we're talking about two different videos.

In the video I'm talking about, Shep in fact says, "It's not a Reaper base, it's a Reaper." THAT'S the only reason I'm posting this thread is because of that line implying that it IS a Reaper. My new speculation is whether or not Reapers have the ability to www.youtube.com/watch into other modes/shapes.

I think it's likely Shepard and pals were drawn to that planet to investigate rumors/intel of a Reaper installation, i.e. a "Reaper base." Thus his surprise to find out upon bombing it that what they were investigating was not just an installation, but an actual Reaper present on the planet.

You have... comprehension issues...
Shepard opens the blast door to get at the base underneath.
He soon finds out that underneath isn't a base, but a Reaper.
Shepard says "It's not a Reaper base, it's a live Reaper".
The base didn't transform into a Reaper, he didn't know there was a Reaper under the shield until he shot at it, and knows by then that it was never a base in the first place.
In other words, he's informing his allies, the fleet, that it was never a base they were targetting, but a full-blown Reaper hiding under a giant blast shield.
The fact that you're getting the actual quotation wrong, repeatedly, should be proof enough you're making a silly argument.

Afterall, it's hard to completely exterminate a species if you only have giant Dreadnaughts. You need something that can handle the finer details of planetary genocide with a bit more precision.
We also see a walker type reaper exactly like the one in the gameplay demo in the fall of earth trailer: the thing shooting down the cars looks pretty identical to me. So I'd say its a fair bet that at minimum there are two kinds of reaper, but more likely there are many reaper design solutions for your many reaping problems.

As opposed to a dead Reaper chasing him? I fail to see the difference.
The point is, the thing chasing him is a Reaper.
Still with me?
Sure?
Good.
If what is chasing him IS a Reaper, and the only Reapers we've seen so far are giant starships like the one in the VERY FIRST Mass Effect, then is it possible that they can www.youtube.com/watch and take on other shapes?
Now, do you comprehend what I'm trying to argue here?

I thought that reapers come in a variety of shapes and sizes was something that had already been hinted at? Or maybe it's just something that's already been discussed on the forums.

My only question with that is, why would they need the Collectors then? Why not just leave behind itty-bitty Reaper-bots?
I get that they need to hibernate and all, but... I dunno.

What you posted in your video is no different then the enemy which we had to fight twice in ME2 (at the end of the Horizion, and once in the Collector vessel). Its a living constructed of melded bodies and reaper tech into a "mini boss".
What was shown in the tech video is what I believe was a build "Reaper" platform (again, not a star ship) with the parts/tech that Cerberus cell could build.
