Seems like Project Overlord went better than we expected. Just when we thought all "evil" geth were gone and that all that was left was to convince the quarians to let their grudges go... But nooo, Cerberus is there to even screw up that. What's your thoughts on this? I mean, they're almost definitely Cerberus-controlled - apart from Project Overlord being the only explanation of enemy geth in ME3, there's the paintjob obviously reminiscent of the Cerberus logo.

Yeah, you can probably expect Cerberus Rachni as well.

And people kept telling me that Project Overlord served no purpose. :P

Well this is... very interesting.

If they are Cerberus, that would give a whole new level of importance to Overlord, which seemed somewhat untied to the story. Perhaps it even depends on which option you chose at the end.

Maybe it even has something to do with giving Legion to Cerberus? Though I doubt that.

I think they're just there to screw up some trust issues with resolving the Geth/quarian conflict, since the heretics were potentially dealt with in ME2. But it also gives a very powerful weapon to Cerberus, I mean, if the methods they use to hack the Geth are quick and mobile, things might get problematic...

I wonder if they'll get stylish catsuits as well?

Or, it could just be white stripes.

Oh, right. People love to jump to conclusions. My bad.

There's a question mark in the thread title.

Besides, I'm just putting two and two together here. The only ones trying to control geth by the end of ME2 were Cerberus and that quarian Admiral.

And again, the "paint job" is reminiscent of the new Cerberus shock troops.

I don't doubt it. Unless some of the Heretics managed to survive as they were. But Cerberus control or Reaper Indoctrination seems more likely. Although supposedly Cerberus is indoctrinated as well to some extent.

I like to think the heretic geth are no more servant to Saren than those geth are to Cerberus.  Cerberus is under indoctrination and Im sure they are not the only ones that are.  My money is on heretic geth getting more leverage and control of more geth come Me3 with the help of Cerberus and the Reapers.
whatever the story, its not mass effect without some geth killin. Image IPB

Wait, how do we know they are being controlled by Cerberus? Let's say you rewrote the geth in ME2, couldn't these geth just concluded they should help the Reapers again and joined them in taking over the galaxy?

If there's an organization that would spray-paint its colors on an army of advanced AI contructs it has freshly obtained control of, it's Cerberus.

Nothing to do with heretics/true Geth. The Overlord DLC for Mass Effect 2 showed just how Cerberus was planning on dealing with the Geth threat, and the screenshot is probably showing results of that.

Couldn't these be in the game if you decided not to overwrite the heretics?

If you decided not to overwrite them, you blew them up.

You blew up one base of them. There were more bases out there of heretics. Rewriting them not only rewrote that base but then through their network would infect the rest.

Head ---> desk.

WTF is this? Now I'm really starting to wonder about keeping the base at all. It's a logical action, but now that I'm able to meta-game it? Cerberus just screws everything up, even if you support them...
-sigh- All the nay-sayers were right. No matter what you do, BioWare will railroad you into being paragon or having a terrible playthrough. So much for Renegades being able to get things done efficiently.

EDIT: Sorry, somewhat off-topic. Just the whole... CERBERUS = BAD NAO thing... and I re-wrote the Geth. I just can't win! Even if I were to kill the Heretic Geth, I bet these appear anyway.

that's one of the logical interpretations along with the some others that could be influenced by your decisions... we must assume our decisions from the previous 2 games will have major effects in the final game of the trilogy, and one of these should be materialized in the different side enemies we're going to face.
one thing I'm sure of, is that Bioware knows how to make a great story

That will probably be one of the come-uppances for pure Renegade and Paragons.

Paragons will have to deal with husk Rachni.
Renegades will have to deal with heretic Geth.

I rather like the direction.  But what I want to see in Me3 (and you would probably like this) is that Shepard gain control of Cerberus (think LotSB) either by convincing TIM or killing him; then all the benefits Shepard allotted to them in Me2 would be there as well (Collector Base) for the end fight against the Reapers.

I sold Legion to Cerberus.
