i meen....every trilogy works that way. lord of the rings retrun of the king was the last of the 3, and it was the most action packed, and won 11 oscars. the bourne ultimatum was the best of the bourne trilogy but it was the most action packed. and return of the jedi was the most action packed of the original star wars trilogy and while not as good as empire strikes back it was still very good.

serosuly its THE FINAL BATTLE OF COURSE ITS GONNA BE ACTION PACKED. but there will be rpg elements, bioware cant just tell us everything all at once ya know, it takes time. besides theres still character development, dialouge choices, diffrent ways for the game to play out. i think its shapeing up to be the best of the 3
do any of you agree

It does take place in the middle of a massive galaxy-spanning war. I can accept that there is more action in it.

Plus, there's the possibility that Bioware are showing us just action scenes to try and catch that mythical and illusive CoD crowd they keep on shooting for.

As long as there are the bits in between.

Um....it's e3. Of course they are going to show the big action set piecesseeing as its being revealed to the gneral public, not hardcore ME fans. I mean what do you want them to show...updated options screen? Watch Casey Hudson assign skill points?

The part with Mordin seemed like a nice long cutscene with dialogue. Ofc it's going to be action packed that's the point of the game. ME1 and ME2 were also action packed so if ME3 is up to part it will be oke.

In my mind it's not a bad thing by it's itself just that in the case of ME2 it came at the expense of RPG elements such as squad equipment customization, limited skill selections, linear upgrades etc it remains to be seen if Bioware can correct that with ME3.

My brother is a huge CoD fan. He hated ME1. He's playing through ME2. Know what he complains about? The talking. The mineral scanning. The "there should be more shooting."

Yeah. As much as I loved the RPG elements of ME1, if BioWare is going to keep trying to cater to fans they never had, then don't expect them to come back much more than a bare minimum. 'Specially after there has been no mention what-so-ever of them.

That the game starts  using generic tactics without even having the decency to cover it up.
That it will just be another Third-person shooter in a Sci-Fi shell.

IMO: it's not a bad thing at all.

Hey, it doesn't come across as good storytelling if we're sitting around having tea and scones with Zaeed while London burns and, at our leisure we rise and Shepard says "I guess we should do something about that gigantic genocidal war robot over there."

It's gotta be more like...

Shepard: Holy **** it's a %&*%& Reaper.  KILL IT!!  GIVE ME YOUR WAR CRY ZAEED!!!!
Zaeed: AAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Ok, not exactly like that but you get the point.

This is why regardless of what happens with ME3 it will likely be the last Bioware game I intend to purchase as it's becoming clear to me that I'm no longer the market that they have in mind for their games.

"generic tactics"?  Hmmm, ok...I guess you're one of the people who feels ME3 should really just focus on being a revolutionary third person shooter?  Do you generally pass judgement a year before you see a finished product?

Look I want to see the RPG stuff as much as anyone, the dialogue, the character drama and story, the weapon and armor customization, the skill trees, the exploration and adventure, but nine of that would have really impressed me the way this heavy action and massive set piece stuff they've been show has. The combat is incredible and the scale is everything they promised. This game takes place during a galactic war and reaper invasion, its gonna be bigger and differently paced than the first 2 games and Im excited by that fact.

Guess all some people need are big flashy booms and loud gunfire while running and jumping around a burning city. Tried GoW yet? Im sure you will love it:whistle:

No,  but i can make observations of what i think the Developers are trying to achieve with this game or what it is going to be based an any released material

I'm going to be EXTREMELY disappointed if the Mako and uncharted worlds do not make a glorious return in ME3. As the galaxy burns I would like the FREEDOM to be able to explore interesting planets and collect prothean relics. If this is not included then I'm DONE with bioware and their CoD CRAP.

I'm fine with action. In fact, I love it. I loved ME2's fast-paced gameplay. What I and some others I think are worried about is that the action itself will supplant a lot of the smaller, non-action-related details that made ME1 and ME2 special. Action is great. But action within a predictable/generic storyline is forgettable.

Really??? Its E3, its about being flashy, its not about the heart of the experience or the details, its about the cosmetics. Its ignorat to expect differntly. I have played Gears of War but no Im actually not a fan of it, I like games with deep and rich stories like Mass Effect, why do you think Im on this board?

The problem I have with the whole action, action action mentality is that in some cases it detracts from one of the main points of RPG's.

What I mean by this is, lets take ME:1 as an example.  In ME:1 there were many instances where if you picked the right dialog option it was possible to solve a potentally volatile situation with words and avoid a gunfight at all.  A good example of this is UNC: Major Kyle where if you wanted to you could just go in guns blazing and kill everyone, or you could talk him into going in peacefully.  Or what about Citadel: Doctor Michel? Or UNC: Hostile Takeover?  How about UNC: The Negotiation? Or UNC: Hostage?

In ME:2 can anyone name me a single instance where it was possible to do this?
