Poor fan service at E3 (Edit: Foot in mouth! Thank you Bioware, for lifting my RPG concerns)

Honestly, sifting through all of the repeated buzzwords and PR bullcrap at this E3 has been almost unbearable.  I love Bioware, I love all their games, but in my humble opinion, their ME3 stuff at E3 was poorly handled.  Maybe it's EA's fault, maybe not, but it was awful nonetheless.

1. Soldier Shepard gameplay only; not even a hint of other classes
2. "Visceral," "huge," "awesome;"  these words are great, but try not to use them 50 billion times; give some credit to the consumer, we are all not a bunch of herpy derp morons.  Don't you often say that the appeal of the Mass Effect series is its intelligence?  I think it's ok to assume its fan base is at least mildly intelligent.
3. Not even an image, tease, or example of any of the "deep customization" improvements.  I mean, wasn't that the MAIN complaint of ME2?  I loved the game, but when one single complaint emerges in such a stand out way, to me it makes sense to address the fix as soon as possible.  Could they not have showed us even ONE weapon mod?  Not even ONE new example of an evolved talent/skill?  Nothing?  Really????
4. Conversation non-existent.  Showing Shepard choose between comforting a small child or dismissing him does not illustrate Mass Effect's strength of the dialogue wheel.  What about an actual, branching conversation?

Just my little rant.  Who knows, maybe Bioware will have more for us tomorrow, but I doubt it based on what they have chosen to do so far.

E3 isn't about fan service. It's about showing off how bad ass your game is to everyone.

Yeah, when no one knows about it!  They already have a HUGE established fan base!  What are they thinking?

Well, I do recall one point where they were talking about how the game wasn't all just shooting and there were deeper rpg elements.  They started to talk about the whole "multiple evolutions" thing.  Then "Oh, look, here's  the Atlas mech!"  and that was that:P

Maybe they would actually "service" you guys if you stopped complaining about every little thing they did.
Show combat-oh thats lame combat
Show RPG-oh thats not enough elements
Show story-oh thats a spoiler

You wonder why guys. They only had their interviews so far, in an hour and a half theyll do a behind the scenes feature

^ Retain and recruit, not alienate and recruit. Counterproductive.

I just watched the IGN live feed.  Don't get me wrong, I love the combat.  But that's not the ONLY thing they should be showing.  It makes Mass Effect seem one dimensional, misrepresenting the game.

Well, they are trying to appeal to the larger crowd. There is nothing wrong with that.

It irks me every time they say this is the perfect time to jump into the series

No it isn't, start advertising to your current fanbase

I agree 100% with the buzzwords Bioware needs to stop using so much especially the Bioware founders ,it's just becoming silly now.

"Hey, we have a hugefan base following are every beck and call. We can show of the other classes and rpg elements later before the game is shiped like we did with ME1 and 2. And like every E3, we can focus on gameplay alown to get more fans....Like we did wuth ME1 and ME2.

No matter what, EA is always "possibly involved" somehow. EA isn't bad. WHy do so many people here have disdain for Electronic Arts?

I think it IS wrong to simplify aka boil a product down to something soulless and one-dimensional to appeal to the largest mass/demographic possible. Have you read Feed by M.T. Anderson? This is the direction we are headed in.

I agree OP. I'm disappointed.

You say poor fan service at E3? Maybe that's because they take the fans for granted and simply do't give a **** about them. No, now they're aiming for the prize... the Call of Duty crowd.

Lots of Boom Boom in what they showed... and a super AWESOME laser knife. Yeah, Awesome like in Awesome Button.

Not much else.

Potential customers.

But atleast it is better than DA2's marketing, we already got gameplay vids right off the bat LOL.

I agree with Biotic Sage. All they've been showing has been potential spoilers. Just give us the info we want, that's all we need. All the same interviewers are asking the same newcomer questions and sounds like they don't know the Mass Effect story at all.

It's an outright lie and it's baffeling that this is seen as acceptable.

You know ME3 is not coming out till next year right? What sense would it make if they showed every aspect of the game 10 months before the release.

To all those who are upset because they didn't see their favorite character or wanted more RPG elements shown just remember that ME3 is a long way from being in your hands. Bioware just smothered us with new ME3 footage and people still want more *sigh*.

Firstly, they couldn't show the dialogue because most of it hasn't been recorded yet.

Secondly, they have a limited amount of time. The demos aren't for the fanbases, they're for the publishing/hardware companies to show off to the gaming press why they should care about their games. While the fans seem to care a lot about the RPG stuff, most of the gaming press there doesn't. They just need you to sum up as quickly as possible why they should care about your game, hence the focus on action and scale.

E3 has never been for the fans, its for Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and the big publishing companies to show off their games.
