Listening to todays IGN demonstration of ME3 gameplay, we had Casey Hutson coment
on the new Battarian Husk Creatures - he said that later in the game we
will see as yet another species will be mutated by Reapers into Husk
monsters.

So the concluzion is -WOW -
Reapers probaly already destroyed Batarian Worlds before coming to
Earth. Makes sance since they arrived in Battarian sector. That means
that all Council Races just sat end watched as Reapers wipped out
Battarians - how convinient.

Well it is obvious than maybe not all Battarian Planets were invaded, but it seems Batariian Hegemony as a nation will be no more, and they Species will now on by no more powerfull than Quarians.
Destoying
that Mass Relay without warning Paragon did a great job of leaving
entire Battarian Race to its fate. He not only destroyed entire one
planetary system but also cut off entire sector trapped to their doom.

Great work you all Paragon Shepherds - you truly are heros!!

So in other words, no matter what, we won't be able to complete all missions and one species is going to die.

That doesn't tell me the Batarians were wiped out dude. All it tells me is they hit Batarian worlds somewhere along the line.

There's no evidence that reapers destroyed the entire batarian race, they could have just sacked a few of their colonies in that general area to produce those cannibals before heading to Earth's sector of space. I have a feeling batarians will be seen in the game and they will be one of the hardest faction to get to join in the armada. Probably an optional one too.

The hell is up with the Paragon vs. Renegade thing, if you don't own atleast 1 of both, then you shouldn't play Mass Effect.

Does that mean I won't get a Batarian squadmate?

Wait how does this mean anything? Just because there were Batarian husks doesn't mean the batarians are wiped out, and also the system destroyed in Arrival wasn't the main Batarian sector, and we don't know where the reapers arrived that's why we destroyed the relay.

Well with the relay we destroyed in batarian space and the reapers arriving there, it makes sense they hit some batarian colonies before they got to citadel space. With nobody in citadel space caring about the batarians, they made an easy prey for the reapers and a good source of reaperized batarians and batarian husks...

I doubt wrecking just one relay served the batarian race on a plate for the Reapers to chew.

Also, as far as I'm aware, the only relay in batarian space that the Reapers intended on using just got wiped out by an asteroid crash. And if I remember correctly, this forced them to enter the galaxy "on foot", so, unless they entered through the Terminus systems, there's no reason to think that the batarians got wiped out first.

At least we won't have to fight a all-out war with the batarians now. Just a Reaper invasion which should be a cake walk, right ?

I don't get the logic of this thread, the Reapers are attacking EVERYONE, they may have passed through the Batarian sector first, and thus there are many Cannibals in the beginning, but it doesn't mean, in any way, that they are all dead... And besides, wouldn't the Reapers have started in Batarian space anyway, since they relay Shepard destroyed was, well... In Batarian space...

If one species had to die, I would've picked the Batarians were it up to me.

In fact it was near main Battarian Space close to the homeworld - but do their Homeworld have seperate relay I cannont tell.

Well, unless there were more relays like that one in the Batarian Hegemony, there's no evidence to sugest that the Reapers started with them.
Being on the edge of the galaxy though makes them a likely candidate for being the first to be "reaped".

Whats the time span between ME2 to 3? It takes a long time to wipe out a species, and if they wiped out the batarians before ME3 we would have to have quite the time jump.

Wasn't there mention of a Krogan/Turian (Krogan/something, I know for sure) husk hybrid? This really doesn't mean that there are more than a few thousand Batarians missing.

Which is a damned shame.

There was a dialogue line from Arrival that mentioned the time the Reapers would need to reach our galaxy if that relay was destroyed. I guess she mentioned months, but I'm not sure.

That exacly why this is stupid - the entire Arrival DLC was fishy and left you no choice from the very begining, normal paragon Shepherd would have already turned down Kenson after she explained what she did to the Batarians, and imedietly warned them of imending Reaper invasion from the moent he learned about it.

Something like this never Happened in ME series - well at least not on that big scale.

Why are we assuming the game will start when the reapers have already invaded Earth?
