How much time was on the countdown clock when Shepard first saw it like 48 hours? You believe that even if you warned the Batarians (assuming they believe you, which they won't) they can amass an army on time to fight back the Reapers invasion before the two days are up? Seems to me the situation was f$*ked either way.
One great thing about beeing hopeless paragon is you do things becose they are right, and outcomes are something compleatly diffrent.

Wow, I'm a bit surprised by all this Batarian hate.
Why? Their first-hand presentation to the player is unequivacally unlikeable.
Because not all Batarians are terrorists.
How do you know 'most'? There is no evidence to say that most are terrorists. Hell, we know very little about what goes on on their homeplanet.

Nobody is going to miss the Batarians. They're the galaxy's scapegoat. The important question is, who are we going to make fun of when they're gone? I guess there's always the vorcha...

That's because Bioware has not really shown any batarians player can connect with. You would want to do the same thing to turians if they were shown just as they were during first contact war, as alien invaders. And what about the krogan, the race that almost butchered the whole galaxy in their neverending expansion through war? Only reason you don't hate them is because you have seen the other side of the coin.

I agree with this. Also check out this CDN:

Oh so because the Batarians' small totalitarian government has threatened humanity that makes genocide of their entire race OK?

You really think krogans would spare humans if they went on another conquest run, like how Clan Weyrloc would have if they cured the genophage? They nuked turian colonies through asteroid drops for gods sake.
And the turians are only liked because the other side is shown, mainly through Garrus. If this game would be only about first contact war, you would hate them.

I don't support Batarian genocide, but they're one of the last races I'll feel sympathy for if it happens.

But it's up to them to show us the other side of the coin. So far they seem content to paint Batarians as stereotypes who hate humans and love slavery.

Actually BioWare have made it clear that most batarians aren't evil terrorists but rather unlucky people who live under a ruthless caste system and are oppressed by a totalitarian regime with surveillance and propaganda. Also they have shown examples of good batarians, such as the guy you help on Mordin's mission and the guy in the CDN article that I posted above.

the most Batarian who aren't part of the government, are slavers. And their targets are humans. I hate slavery. If my specie suffered their attack, do you think, that i'll like them ?

Humans have slavers too, so do the asari, turians, salarian, krogan... probably all species have slavers. And pirates. A batarian thug is a stereotype. It has nothing to do with the average batarian civilian.

The CDN guy was taken out of his element and raised by humans. As for the sick batarian on Mordin's mission... You had to save his life for him to begrudgingly stop hating humans. That doesn't say a whole lot about his character other than the fact that he's slightly less of a bigot now.Bad King wrote...

They need to have a downright heroic batarian in-game. I think the closest we've come is Garrus mentioning that one of his anti-gang squad was a batarian. Although he added, 'if you can believe it'.

Okay so every Batarian man, woman and child who isn't part of the government is a slaver? I don't think so - there is nothing in-game that implies this, in fact the opposite is implied- that the majority of batarians are oppressed by a totalitarian government, and have no say in political matters.

All this evidence implies that Batarians are normal people- influenced by the same factors that influence us and not some race that is genetically orientated towards being evil slavers like a lot of people seem to believe. And the guy on Mordin's mission came to a logical conclusion- when every species is dying apart from one (and another which is naturally resistant to disease) it is only logical to assume that the species immune is to blame.

Well, I agree with you that we see the other side for them and not really for Batarians.
But Turians are currently our allies. System of Krogans was demilitarized. They are no longer a threat and there is a way to help them, and change them.
Krogans are weakened and monitored. They were a threat, and I agree with the action of Turians, who released the genophage. But today is different from the past.

Somone said it earlier, just because the reapers have your species as husks dosn't mean you've been defeated by them. Like somone else said earlier, the Mass Relay from Arrival is in Batarian space. So there going to probably going to pick some up on the way to earth.
