Seriously. The game is rated M and TW2 got away with it. While Im not asking for hardcore, I'd like to see R-rated.

If you dislike it, than why start a relation ship in the game ???

OP, you could just rent a porno.

Mass Effect does not need to be the TW2. Go get a girlfriend/boyfriend.

This is the kind of post the forum doesn't need.

Come on, don't make baseless assumptions about people just because you oppose their opinion.

It accomplishes nothing.

Might want to take your own advice. Do you even know what I mean?

*Using UK ratings for following comment*

Sorry but if your going to have vast amounts of people on BSN drooling over fictional LIs and creating threads about romance day in/day out aswell as having it being in game. Then make those romances themed for age the game its rated at. Not talking about having breasts and arse's everywhere you look but if there is a love scene it should be done in an more adult manner in a 15+ compared to 12+ and even more so in an 18+.

Obviously too many of the people here who rave on about their beloved LIs are all talk no substance, it annoys me they talk about having something like mature romance in the game around their LI's yet haven't the maturity to deal with a love scene when it comes around.

Now I personally don't care about LI's in game, remove them altogether as far as I'm concerned since I don't really want to play a dating sim but clearly a lot of people here do want 'fictional' replacements for real life romance in their games. ME1 granted was rated for 12 years and above so sex scenes should maybe should have had more kiddie gloves on in that aspect compared to ME2, however ME2 was for 15+ and yet went in reverse for maturity it handled sex scenes.

I don't know what age rating ME3 will be but I'm guessing 15+ again in which case it shouldn't have more censorship than a 12 rated title, it should have less censorship which doesn't mean has to go full out into 18+ territory but it shouldn't be going backwards maturity wise in content.

Sure, I could see Tali nekkid. Image IPB

My canon Shep would hit that. Why not?

Just because mature material like sex scenes are in a videogame doesn't always mean the execution will have a tasteful approach.

I'll actually be very disappointed if the culmination of the romance over three games is a sex scene, regardless of maturity. That would be a lame way to go out.

In fact, I kind of don't want a sex scene at all, at least not with any of the old romances. That was nice in the previous games, as a sign that the relationship had become 'official', but now that we've moved past that point, I want to see something else.

Like what? I would like some small, tender moments, but Ash and Shepard have been separated for 2-3 years. AFAIK Ash hasn't been with anyone else and still loves Shep. I think there is a lot of pent up emotions going on. Liara was the same way. Granted, I liked those moments with Liara, even at the end where there was only the fade-to-black. When the SB was defeated, Feron freed, and her 2 year ordeal was finally over, she broke down and cried. While Ash is a strong woman, she's also only human. As many have said, nobody wants porn. I can find that whenever I want.  I do want BioWare to reward those who stayed faithful with something special. I believe they promised such when ME2 came out.

I just don't see a sex scene as a 'reward'. It's a little predictable, for one thing, and honestly a bit shallow. And now that I think about it, I don't like graphic sex scenes in movies, either. It alwasy stops the movie dead.

And even at its raunchiest, sex scenes in movies and games are never anything special. If I'm in the mood for that sort of thing, I just watch porn.

So when it comes to caring with you, there is:

Not caring at all and refusing to talk about it

And

Regarding it as a prioritized, 'This must be done now' task.

It must be very stressful to hang out around you.

What are you discussing here? The thread title is alpha omega. If you absolutely gotta put sex in a sci-fi video game, atleast make it look right, like it did in ME1. There's nothing more to it.

Crusial? No. But if BioWare is going to include a sex/romance scene in their games, they better do it right, or don't do it at all.

I believe the ME1 romanc scene was just right. The scene was okay and didn't bother me at all.

I don't need a sex-scene in my games. If I want sex, I either call my girlfriend or I watch porn.

But when a video-game shows me the most embarrasing romance/sex scene ever, I can't help asking myself: "Why BioWare WHY????"

Best thing about sex in Mass Effect 1 is that the skin of all of them does feel like skin, and not plastic, or just plain boring polygons going crazy, something that is clearly abhorrent in all the other examples shown here, including some of ME2 (DA, DA2, the witcher, etc.)

By using the lights in a very subtle manner, all the usage of intelligent shaders, etc., and the use of slow movements (instead of that ridiculous scene from DA2), it really surpasses the uncanney valley quite well. In ME2 there were good examples and bad ones. But because they didn't put the lights more subtly, all the problems that usually stem from mechanical movements show off too much.

Sex is about delicacy, subtlety, touch. It's very hard!

Make take on "tasteful" is a romantic but mature sex scene without turning it into digital porno.

A tasteful sex scene portays sex how sex should be, an emotional act of love.

For example, this.

That's just my opinion though.

Or we could stop putting so much emphasis on the romance and make a game that is actually heavy on the narrative and not so much on the dating simulation.

Don't be sorry, I was well aware of the pun and let it go not without intent...

Thing is, if you go see ME1 sex, the characters appear made out of flesh. The others appear made out of solid blocks painted of skin color. In ME1, characters move veeeeery realistically. Not even in TW2 (which could be worse, but still...) one achieves this perfection.

So its not about technology. TW2 has better tech than ME1. It's all about colors, lighting and care about the movements being correct. You'll notice that ME1 doesn't try to do things that others do, like kissing deeply (camera fades to black before the mouths touch), hands grabbing each other, wild back and forths, etc. They knew what they couldn't technically do, so they stuck with the best technology could provide. The result was pretty good.

All these newer scenes are designed by people who think they can do more than the tech really allows them to do realistically, and we end up seeing rubber people making rubber sex.

PS: Assassin Creed was intelligent, because it pre-rendered the most complicated scenes, the ones they knew they couldn't do with the in game engine.

Relationships are a part of the narrative. It seems some people are obsessed with the sex aspect of it more than the relationship itself though.
