God damn america!
Why are you gonna f*** it up for all other countrys where people aren't retards!
Edit: Or being brainwashed by Fox!
In defense of some of America. Fox "News" is a plague on our society and some of us actually think they are pathetic, Mostly us in northern states, we'd be much better off if we had just let the south seceed like they wanted.

I don't think I believe that either. They haven't provided any reasonable explanation that's made me think "Yeah, fair enough, that makes sense".
I've considered writing to Bioware, but I don't think it'd make a difference, nor do I feel it's something I should be wasting my time doing.
I think it's going to take a long time before games reach the same level of story telling we see in films books, or even T.V. shows. They don't reflect real life very well.
This whole topic just reminded me of this. I laughed when I read it but it's sad that it's actually serious.
Just wanted to address the bold section.
We can wait all the time we have in the world and still not get anything comparable to what is available in movies, books, or television. Someone is going to have to decide to approach the matter maturely in order to push games up to be on par with other media.
In my mind, that means treating romance like a romance and not something that amounts to a quick hook-up after meeting someone at a bar. It means really thinking about what intimacy really means (because it doesn't just pertain to romantic interest) and applying it adequately in the story.
One example that I think fits the level of intimacy that needs to be achieved in games is Aveline's relationship with Hawke - for those who played DAII. It's known that she's not an LI so there's not much a spoiler there. Can you imagine what that entire arc would have been if a romance was actually realized there? I both loved and hated Bioware for that. Honestly, I would have given up all the LIs for Aveline. The level of intimacy that was there and how it looked like it could actually grow to something more.
I wasn't attracted to Aveline when the game released. I knew who the LIs were and knew who I wanted to pursue first. Aveline came out of nowhere and ultimately I couldn't do anything about it and I wanted to. I don't know, but it seems to me that for some reason (this isn't meant to be harsh criticism), knowing that they're writing a romance arc makes them write the romances as they do which makes them unsatisfying...at least for me in part.
Another good example of conveying that level of intimacy was present (or would have been completely present) with Samara except that the casual sex dialogue choice ruined it for me. It cheapened the whole thing and I didn't even have to select it. The fact that it was there ultimately made me think that for the writers at Bioware, romance equals sex when romance should equal intimacy which means level of proximity or closeness and not the slightly wrong interpretation of the word.

Hey don`t insult a whole continent just for the stupidity of the average citizen of northern countries.
America is not a continent... *facepalm*
Actually it is and is not. It depends on how you see the world.

If Bioware continue to shy away from mature subject matter they will never be able to create characters we'd shed a tear for.
As I previously said, they need to start taking romances seriously of you want be on par with films and books, even T.V. I think that mass effect could have been an excellent opportunity to develop realistic relationships with characters that truly mattered to you, be they love interest or otherwise.
They also seem to treat sex as a reward in the game. I would like them to write the script in such a way that if the characters have sex, that it makes sense in the progression of the characters rather than because its the last mission before we all die so you might as well. Another thing is that if there is a sex scene, show some intimacy, some passion, and for god sake some skin. People passionately in love don't physically express it by dry humping each other. I'm not talking about anything explicit, but no less than what you would expect if you went to the pictures or read it in a book or seen it on T.V.
I think it's sad that in 2011 we're still waiting to see something as emotionally evocative as some of the films books and T.V. shows out there.
I think it'll be a while before we do.

Clearly Fox news stepped in it with that story but I wonder how many saw that story who knew nothing of Mass Effect and then went out and bought it, just for the 'sex' they heard about on Fox. I'd bet it was far more than a few. I don't really believe you can lay blame on Fox. It wasn't their decision to censor down ME2, It was the guttless at Bioware, EA and Microsoft. Those who caved to inaccurate publicity and had no confidence in their existing product. I think they should have had the courage to continue with their original vision instead of choosing to try to pass off some ridiculous version of censorsex as mature.
Censored down? Really?
Mass Effect had one scene with some side boob. It was hardly raunchy. ME2 had characters like Jack, who's only a step away from being topless, far more cursing, and far more mention of sexual themes.
And I think you're not remembering the Fox fiasco quite right - from what I recall, the controversy stemmed from Fox's mistaken belief that Mass Effect was some kind of harem game, which it certainly never was. They hadn't seen the sex scene. The controversy came completely from a woman who hadn't even played the game and was just making a stupid statement. She even later - like a week later - apologized and corrected herself.
"I recognize that I misspoke. I really regret saying that, and now that I've seen the game and seen the sex scenes it's kind of a joke. Before the show I had asked somebody about what they had heard, and they had said it's like pornography. But it's not like pornography. I've seen episodes of Lost that are more sexually explicit."
So yeah, I seriously doubt the Fox stuff ever had any real impact. Most people aren't so desperate that they'll shell out sixty bucks for a sex scene they can watch on Youtube, and if you look at the cover you can figure out it ain't porn.

This, a thousand times over. Let the South seceed--I'm all for it. Rick Perry of Texas wanted to seceed--I wish he had actually tried it. I cannot STAND Fox News, or southerners who are *proud* to be called "Hillbillies".

Not that I actually like Perry, but political misinformation is a pet peeve - he didn't actually say that.
