The best elven character Bioware has written in my humble opinion...though she was a half-elf. That portrait is also uniquely appealing. Despite the bizzare symmetry and proportions and scars, she's still attractive. Nice regardless, to see a warrior with scars, those touches seem lost in most games these days.

If you guys are going to make comparisons, at least use NPCs that actually had work put into their designs and not throw away quest givers or background filler elves. The companion elves and a few major NPC elves look just fine. And they really look nothing like Na'vi.

Overly large eyes, long droopy ears are common to both Na'vi and DA2 elves. Or, as I said earlier, Dobby. The Na'vi have much broader faces without the super pointed chin and nose. Or the orcs with the sharply pointed ears and pinched faces. Every DA2 elf, even Merrill, immediately makes me think "lop-ear rabbit".

Zevran looks bad compared to Origins; the retcon changed his face, ears, and body completely. I don't get the anorexic model look for any of the elves, let alone Zevran.

The Na'vi ears are cat-like, pointing upwards and situated high on the head. The DA 2 elves have ears that start at the same level as a human's and swoop out to the side and back. Completely different. The Na'vi have broad, cat-like bridges for their nose while the elves have relatively human sized bridges. The Na'vi have no indentation for their nose, meaning their foreheads swoop down directly into the nose. The elves have a small indention that varies between the various models. They both do have larger than normal irises, this is true. The Na'vi, elves and humans all have similar chin and jaw structure.

And you just said that the elves have both broad and pinched faces. Those are generally mutually exclusive traits...

Zevran is a YMMV sort of thing. The biggest issue is that he looks different from his DA:O model. This is magnified by him being both a companion and a love interest.

I know this has nothing to do with the topic or anything but it's been bothering me every time I read this topic...

Pretty sure it should read: This is how the elves should HAVE looked.

Also: Dragon Age isn't WOW. If you need your pretty night elf fix fire it up. I applaud Bioware for trying something different.

Continuing to repeat that like a parrot does not make the statement any truer. The DA 2 elves and the Na'vi do not really look similar. They are about as similar as humans and the new qunari.

Personally i like the way they look in DA2, fits the art style perfectly. I hope they change the art style for every Dragon age game. would be very interesting to see a completly new look for every game in the series. just like they do with comic books, different artists create their own feel and look.

Furthermore, Jaheira was ****y when crossed, stubborn, very outspoken and unpleasantly direct. How refreshing after having to deal with elves in countless games, who are either whiny emo-kids (Merril and Fenris, I am talking to you!!!!), or cute girlie-like. (Elfquest, I hate you!)

Not even cold, aloof, arrogant Tolkien-elves can we get. Jaheira, I miss your bickering!

I'm not going to point out the obvious differences a third time, so I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I mean, you're wrong, but you are entitled to being wrong, so what can you do?

Jaheira actually looks more Na'vi than DA2 elves, to me. Clearly Bioware started copying Avatar really early.

Its okay. I still think the old Darkspawn were too much like LotR Orcs. But not in looks, at least. In mentality maybe. Or general usage within the narrative. I'm not really sure why.

Those are modded Oblivion elves and still look exactly like humans with long ears (The very issue Bioware is attempting to address).
