I see that the Collector's Edition is going to be made available through the EA digital download service. I also see that this edition is apparently going to include an additional mission and character (I assume it isn't the robot dog). I do not plan to use the EA service - I will be buying the game through Steam. What I would like to know is if this content will be made available to people who buy the game on Steam either through some sort of digital deluxe edition or through paid DLC.

Please note, I'm not complaining about the concept of a Collector's Edition or about how "Steam users get screwed," or any other nonsense. I just want to know if the additional character and story content will be available, through any means at all, to Steam buyers. I'm more than willing to hand over my cash to access this content; all I want to know is if I will be given the opportunity.

I've seen this issue raised a number of times in the threads talking about the Collector's Edition generally, but I haven't seen it addressed specifically. In fact, the commenter bringing it up is usually ignored by others in the thread who want to talk about other issues surrounding the Collector's Edition. Mods, if this has been answered elsewhere, feel free to direct me that answer and to lock this thread. Otherwise, I'd ask that you keep it open as the issue seems to be continually swamped by other discussion surrounding the Collector's Edition.

They might do what they did with the Bioware Signature Edition for DA2. Get the game on Origins, that stuff comes free. Get it on Steam, you have to pay for the extra character/mission.

Which would be extremely, extremely lame.

*pure speculation*

I imagine the best Steam version will be just like the "Digital Deluxe" version in the origins store. Which doesn't include the squadmate/extra mission.. you will probably have to buy it with BioWare points on release.

Actually, that would be fine by me. So long as I can get to the content using my download service of choice, I'm happy.

Again, I'm happy with that. Well, there are issues surrounding day-one story content DLC generally, but that's not my major concern, here.

I feel like someone should have a talk with all game developers when it comes to revealing CE for their games. The announcements are always done in pieces, and there's always loads of questions. A simple FAQ would suffice.

I'd really appreciate something like that. And I imagine it wouldn't hurt sales: everyone would know how best to send their money to Bioware/EA. I mean, geez - what I'm asking for is a way to spend more money on ME3, essentially.

I hope so. They're just screwing themselves outta CE sales if they don't.
