But for some strange reason for role playing purposes I guess, I have taken him into every single battle my Mage has been in. It just seems I am sharing the main story with him since we are both Grey Wardens. It's not just "my" storyline but his as well it wouldn't feel right without him the first time through. Call me crazy but i just feel like it's the right thing to do.

Actually there are tons of threads about Alistair being the best companion, I think the community is pretty spit about him.

My goody-two shoes mage took him everywhere for exactly the reasons you stated.. My evil **** dwarf has him standing naked in camp and he will barely speak to her. She was a spoiled brat in her noble origin and remains a spoiled brat as a grey warden.

Allister is awesome especially if you harden him up in your journeys. He becomes a bit tougher and less whiney.

Alistair and my rogue were best buds 4lyfe (+100 friendly). They shared every single battle as well. Now my self-righteous/horribly arrogant mage has him pretty angry. My second play-throughs are always difficult because I feel like I'm being mean to old friends, and I really liked Alistair in my first game. His whiny-er side comes out when I'm mean to him, but I still like him as a character overall very much.

Spit about him? Is this a typo or weird lingo?

Same thing my goody goodies take him everywhere while my naughty people leave him in camp to watch after my pup.  Even did the extra work for my naughty city elf rogue to romance him, get him in bed, then afterwards laugh at him, broke his heart and walked to the other side of the fire to make out leliana.....   ya I have had too much spare time.

I really really tried not to have him killed at the landsmeet (again) for my second play through, after listning to him whine for 70 hours though... I just can't resist getting rid of him for good. I doubt I will ever see an ending where he doesn't bite it :(

Meh it is a typo, my keyboard is dying and dropping letters on me (has been for weeks).  I try to catch them but the spellchecker here only kicks in about 40% of the time for some reason.  I'm not nearly as stupid as my typing makes me look.  (It is much, much worse) :o

There's a thread pleading for Alistair's hand in marriage somewhere.

So don't worry, I think there's plenty of love for Alistair going around.

That aside, I like your point of view on Alistair, NtenseGamer.

I like Alistar as he's so much like Zack from FFVII, I'm having Daja vu almost constantly with him.

Alistair is a great character, and a person like him in real life would be a great friend and a nice companion to go sit with and take a beer, he's fun and quite charismatic, I would understand why women would fall for him for sure, he's the Han Solo of Dragon Age.

Except so much better I hope. I didn't like Han Solo....

Alistair is the first RPG companion since BG 2's Minsc and Jan that I'd want to be friends with in RL and whose dialogue constantly has me laughing like a crazy person. I take him almost everywhere for RP reasons, (he IS a Grey Warden after all, as well as my mage's best friend, after Rabbit), and for game-play reasons 'cuz he's a really good tank which MAY have been mentioned once or twice before

Allistair is great. I got a mace that upped his strength and put him in dragonbone armor. He is great now. I've got three runes for the mace so I went all physical resistance plus the dead head charm that adds more physical resistance. He is a beast.

AsImage IPB a matter of fact he's like the greatful dead.  Everybody likes the dead.

Alistair is one of the most fleshed out characters, I'm pretty sure most people enjoy the character design - he offers a interesting personality and has a light-hearted attitude that is quite pleasant.

I can't stand Alistair. I think he is like a 10 year old whiny little brat. Not a person who has gone trough the joining as a Grey Warden...

But, nonetheless. I've grown dependent on him as my designated meat shield this playtrough. Next time though... Hm... I guess Sten would have to take on the tanking responsibilities.

Uh, you don't want to do that.  He's not that great of a tank.

Or I'll have to take the stance as a Shield and something wielding warrior. *grin* Time will tell. Still got about 20 hours left on this playtrough.

Alistair is the most fleshed out character in terms of dialogue and personality; he's complex and simple at the same time. He does appeal with his whimsical, boyish-ness and he is very competant when steel meets flesh. However, when it comes to the adult responsibilities, he is lacking. He'd rather be fighting on the frontline than be commanding an army. Being Maric's son, he could have a much greater effect on the battle as King than as one very good Templar on the battlefield. I always give him Champion spec as that seems best suited for S&S tank role.

I don't hate Alistair but I find that I have to choose from the beginning how I'm going to use him in the end. If he's to be King, I don't want to romance him knowing that he'll dump me in the end. I'd rather run off with Leliana or the elf and leave Alistair to Anora - ugh!
