That being said, I think there are certain things we can safely assume are unlikely to change massively for the finished product, and other things where we cannot. Barring a massive public outcry, the rail shooting segments are probably going to be in the finished game, so I think it's possible to commend/criticize it (in the broad strokes, at least) based on that. The lack of background NPCs, on the other hand, is one of those things that could very easily be addressed in a very late build, so I think it's probably premature to criticize the game for looking too empty, or for having too few distinct civilians milling about the place.

Now the chain gun segment...seamed silly, but we really don't know how it gets from there. You might have to kill it with something else after you knock down it's shields or hit a weak-point enough or something.

Second, all those people prone to running around pointlessly like in a bad horror movie were probably grabbed. The few smart people probably are hiding or beat it out of there already.
I'm not going to get hung up on the short rail sequence or animations yet. I enjoyed most of the animations in ME2 and if that's all they were to deliver, I'd be happy. However, with 9 months to go, I suspect they'll polish everything to a fine shine.

I did think "Vanattle" felt a little empty, but hey, at least they stuck the kid in there!
I was kind of expecting the shuttles to be recycled too... like all the hovercars, lol.

To be honest, I think BioWare (and their awesome lead art designer, forget his name... Chris?) are suffering from a bit of Pre-Release Syndrome: they've got this awesome game they want so badly to release to the public (for money? Maybe. To let everyone get their fix on ME? Definitely!). It looks like they're having a bit of trouble keeping the facts hidden from the general public.
I mean, just take a look at it: We know what's happening at the beginning, a lot of who's coming along as squaddies, the level of participation from other characters, the important locations we'll be visiting, the main antagonists (I always liked the Illusive Man, until now. Never trusted him, of course, but he was really convincing at times), interactions to expect (love-triangle FTW? I don't know), and even the fate of the Normandy. Barely any of this we knew before ME2 was released. I mean, if I made a game like ME3, I'd be hard-pressed not to invite all my friends to have a party playing it for the next week.
So, for E3, they couldn't bear having no demo (release date is slated before E3 2012, remember), so they just had to put something together to show the public what's happening with the ME3 team. I mean, look at the new trailer! Most of what's in it, we've already seen from the old trailer or from the E3 playthrough. It being the last game of the series, I think ME3's probably going to have the longest playthrough of all the games, and we've only seen about two hours total of it from the content released to the public (thinking relatively here; we've only seen about 5 minutes of gameplay in reality, but Shepard escaping from Earth and going to wherever that geth-base was probably takes a few hours).
So don't fret, OP. I doubt BioWare's pulled even a quarter of the tricks up their sleeves for our enjoyment.

- the civilians we did see were mainly sporting the exact same skins as in ME2, not terrible I guess, but you would expect that fashion across a galaxy would vary... at least a wee bit.
- RAIL SHOOTING SEGMENT... I could barely contain my rage... but. I can actually see how it would make sense (when you see it in wider context), however futile a chain-gun would be against a ****ing reaper, but PLEASE bioware don't make this a recurring theme. besides, my shepard is sneaky biotic ninja; he doesn't drive mechs or yearn to swivel with wild abandon on the nearest turret.
Edit: just watched the turret section again.. and sort of slapped me round the face: the animation for getting onto the turret is really horrible... i think i may just be ill-disposed to turrets though XD
The civilian clothing, yeah it was the same, but I only saw one civilian. There's probably more variaty.
When it comes to the rail shooting segment, yeah it felt a bit weird, that Reaper could've blowen that Geth vehicle to bits. However perhaps the Reaper was under repair and not all weapons system were online?
Also the turret doesn't really damage the Reaper, if you listen you can hear that Shepard calls for an orbital strike from the fleet in orbit. That's what pounded the Reaper to the ground, I suppose the turret just stalls it or something.

if it's not far enough along to be at least vaguely representative of the final product, then BioWare/EA has no business showing it off in the first place.
Which is why they've been showing off TOR for....3 years. Not every game shown at E3 has a release date before the next year's E3, you know. It's not exclusive to EA either.

You are wrong.
-Earth? Well, yes, you are on rooftops.
-Sur'Kesh? There are STG operatives which also shoot at Cerberus.
-Rannoch? What did you expect?
Uh, same model? Kodiak shuttles?- the Alliance shuttles were identical to the cerberus ones, and the batarian ones, and well, every other shuttle we have seen. fair play, their manufacturers are getting a lot of trade, but galaxies are big places, it's a bit silly, however reliable the ford escort of the 2180s may be.
What the-? Moment to moment gameplay anyone?- RAIL SHOOTING SEGMENT...
The animations were awesome.- the animations/movement. shep still can't seem to climb straight over cover, and runs around with his weapon drawn robotically at arms length (teammates sharing the identical animations, which looks quite dated), but now i'm really just nitpicking.
