Poll: Would you buy an Uber Collectors Edition of Mass Effect 3?

**********************************************************

A while back,  Chris Priestly, Community Coordinator for Bioware made inquiries as to what we, the hard core mass effect fans would like for an Uber Collectors Edition.

Then we get a note from Jarret Lee, Senior Marketing Manager, that the Uber Edition won't likely Happen.

Here, Director of Marketing, David Silverman says the "CE" announced, is in fact the "Uber" edition.

Then, we see Chris Priestly say after various questions from the fanbase, that these two editions, Standard, and N7 CE are the only editions he's aware of

And most recently, this.

This leads me to wonder a couple of things:

1. Is that ugly "Better with Kinect" tag going to be on the box art of the ME3 CE for Xbox 360?

2."Is this final? Is there really not going to be anything special in the Mass Effect 3 Collectors Edition to celebrate the close of the Trilogy, this landmark video game?"

3. Why is there no hint, not even a whiff of a "Making of DVD" in the CE? Is this the first CE in history to not have a Making of DVD featurette?

and Most Importantly:
4. IF this is not final, IF there is enough of an outcry from the fanbase to make a proper Collectors Edition, will it happen? Is it a question of funds or lack of customer demand?

Mass Effect, for me is a pretty important series, and I think many on these forums feel the same way. Just take a look at most any other Collecters Editions (that aren't even the close of a trilogy, mind you)

I find it odd EA isn't milking us for more money with an Uber collection when so many people want it! Hell EA is being a greedy a** by charging us $60 for a PC game.

Are we, the crowd that want an overpriced uber collectors edition for Mass Effect 3 so few in number?

The Witcher 2, which is run by a much much smaller company, managed to pump out a really notable and memorable CE.

Why not release an Uber and Collectors? That way the collectors could be reasonably priced for whats available, and the Uber could be outrageously expensive - would suit everyone really

I think having a poll to see if people would buy a $150 uber edition is necessary to voice concern of how fans feel :)

I would honestly pay a good $150 for a Spectre/Commander Edition if the content was worth it.

You know, tons of extra in-game content, some physical items, an extra disk with a bunch of.....extras, etc etc

FemShep is actually being feature on the case? Cool, I know a lot of posters on this site will be happy.

And I'll have to repeat again, why would they not include a "Making Of" DVD in the Collectors Edition?

I have to admit the Collectors Edition was a bit "meh" but it seems that is all that is going to be offered so I stumped up the cash for it.  I really wish we could have had something better than a fabric N7 patch that really does come across as a bit naff.  At the very least I would have preferred some metal Shepard dog tags as a momento.

It's kinda funny really I am getting Duke Nukem Forever the Balls of Steel CE and it is massively better than what Bioware are offering and it was £10 less.  It is ridiculous to think for £50 I am getting a Bust of Duke and other little knick knacks yet all Bioware and EA could manage was a crappy fabric patch.

I can't see things changing though, it seems that everything is set in stone now and we have what we have.  Such a shame that Shepards final outing goes with a whimper instead of a bang Collection Edition wise.

I support the uber collectors edition and would definitely buy one if they decided they'd make one after all.
I also agree about the making of dvd. I loved the ME2 one and would like one in this CE.
Frankly after all the hype about the uber edition, I am quite disappointed that there won't be one after all.
Well, I just went ahead and ordered the Normandy model as my extra item for the CE but it is a bummer that we don't get something special, something no one expected.
Oh and one other thing: Appearance packs? Really? This does not bode well!.

Sorry, don't want to turn this into a flame thread or anything. I ordered the CE as it is and will be happy to get it. Just giving my honest opinion (and joining into the chorus that says, they want and would buy a UCE). BW still has 9+ months to go, maybe this was not the last word on the matter after all.

Personally I think the N7 edition is enough. I mean it already has a lithograph and an artbook included, along with several in-game items. I don't really see what else we could try and fit in there.

Great post Javier. I am pleased with the contents of the CE, but only when thinking of it as a -CE- not a special expensive version (which is what it is being priced at, in the UK at least). There is a lot of digital content in there masking the surprising lack of actual content. We have had artbooks before and in plenty of other CEs without needing to bump the price up as much as it is afterall.

The thing is we would be much happier spending £70 or even more on the CE if it was something truly special, and when it lacks something as simple as a making of it does make me wonder why I am dropping such a large amount on it.

But then it is the ME3 CE and I just can't not get it when I have gotten the other two, any other game and I would lodge my complaint via my wallet but in this case they have me. It's just a shame that there seems to be a lack of ambition to create something truly spectacular to see the series off.

Collectors editions may be fluff for the fans to some extent, but they can also be something more. Just look at what movies are doing with special features and collectors editions thesedays. The Lord of the Rings DVD set for example has actually helped that trilogy garner an even greater reputation than it already had weirdly enough, with it being held as a gold standard of bonus features.

Really wish more games would put the same amount of effort in,

I'm already going to have to pay 150$ for this, so price wise it's quite alright by me. Plus, we don't need all that fancy stuff the other CEs had. The game itself will make up for it tenfold.

Where on earth did you see that date ?  The game is being released in the US on the 6th March 2012 and it will be released worldwide (including the UK) 3 days later on 9th March 2012.

I'd like more stuff... but I'm not going to pay $150. It would have to be a fantasic offer for me to really be willing to lay down that sort of $$.

Umm duh that's the idea. Also it's optional so no one would be forcing you anyways.

I'd totally pay 150 for a Ultimate Collector's Edition for ME3. Does the current CE have a deadline for pre-order on it? I'll pre-order this one and if they do happen to make another one then i'll just change my pre-order no biggie for me, but i'd happily drop 150 for UCE
