Let's take a look;

- 4:49, the Normandy swoops in

- 5:00, Shepard starts running towards the Normandy 

- 5:04, Anderson can be seen trailing behind Shepard

- 5:16, Shepard jumps, Anderson is nowhere to be seen

- 5:18, Shepard lands, Anderson is nowhere to be seen

- 5:21, Ashley says something that sounds like "Where's the Captain?"

- The demo ends, Ashley is looking like something important is happening down where Shepard just was, Anderson is STILL not on the ship. In Retribution Anderson is not the councilor, this would make writing ME3 easier. It would also make the battle for Earth  seem more personal, and, well, BioWare has a history of killing off characters in the early moments of their games. 

Thoughts?

He's saying Anderson dies because we don't see him get on the Normandy. This may mean Anderson will die, but there is not enough evidence to make a conclusion.

- I'm not leaving you.
- Stay. I've got to go.

Well I think. He dies that's for sure.

How is *anyone* surprised at this? 

He's described as the mentor for crying out loud. 

The second anyone calls someon the mentor there's a 99.9999999% of death in the next few hours.

I'm sure he'll pop up again later on as it seems like he won't be joining you on your journey to unite the galaxy. Anderson and his excuses for not wanting to do the leg work of the job...just wanting to be around after the dust settles.
