Sounded like “welcome back” to me. Tho I'm  certainly not going to be surprised if he does die.

Lol. If this does happen I fully expect Sanders to be pregnant or something so Shepard can be godparent.

Still that would be lame, he needs to go down like a badass.

I'm sure he'll pop up again later on as it seems like he won't be joining you on your journey to unite the galaxy. Anderson and his excuses for not wanting to do the leg work of the job...just wanting to be around after the dust settles.

Either way, it's nice to speculate.

It is but I think it would have been fun to have Anderson along for the ride IMO.  I'm all good with speculation as i'm here on the board posting.  I just don't believe he dies this early on in the game.

Jumping to conclusions much?

Man, I'd like to think that the average person is able to recognize the meaning of certain visual cues in the films/games they watch and play.

Why did we not see Anderson get on the Normandy? Why'd the camera cut off right then? Mabe Bioware wants to play with our heads, and Anderson actually makes it, but it'd be a safe bet that he dies early.

Very likely due to Bioware's history.

I agree hense why i'm here posting my opinion.  I just don't think he's gonna die and if he does not so early into the game.

I actually think Ashley says something like: "Welcome back sir" in the vid.

...Is there a game where BW *doesn't* kill someone off in the prologue?

So in the absence of evidence... you make a "safe bet" that Anderson dies?  What if he was sidetracked by something he felt he had to do before joining Shepard?  The look on Shepard's face and the way Ashley scanned the ground implies that they were looking around for him (or someone else), not that their leader/mentor just died.

There's bound to be more casualties on our side, so I'll be prepared if one of my favorites bites the dust.

Bioware wouldn't kill off an important char like Anderson via him not being able to run fast enough right? Right?

Exactly. Maybe Anderson has to save someone's life, say....OH SNAP. KAHLEE SANDERS.

I can make assumptions too.

Of course he dies. Haven't you played any BW games? The standard BW plot (become member of an ancient order, gather mcguffins, save the world) involves one of your friends or your mentor dying in the opening sequence to MAKE YOU CARE. In DA:O - Duncan. In DA2 - a family member. In Jade Empire - the whole village. In Baldur's Gate - Gorion. In ME2 - half of your ship. In ME3 - captain Anderson. In BG2 and ME1, I'm not sure if they wanted to also do it (Khalid and Jenkins) but failed or is this unintentional. BioWare's writers aren't exactly creative.

LOL. Just think how they killed off Hawke's mother. BW are capable of anything.

At the end of this video it's actually kind of audible. Doesn't sound like she says "where is the captain" at all... sounds like buggy audio. Sounds like Anderson yelling "shepard" and then shepard saying "come on." Then Ashley says something (probably something to the extent of "thought you needed a lift") and Shepard replys "thanks."

Weird.

Also at the end of that youtube clip you see Shepard standing there with 2 chat options. All you can see is:

tay, I'm staying.
hell you're not!

Persumably they say something like:

-> If you stay, I'm staying
-> Like hell you're not!

Edit: actually just noticed the audio is looped a little bit. ALMOST LIKE THEY ARE TRYING TO HIDE SOMETHING ^_^

Wait, wait, wait. I thought I read somewhere that Anderson was going to be a squaddie or something.

Regardless of whether or not that's true, Anderson's extremely important to the story. I doubt BioWare will pull something that cliche so early in the game... I hope.

At this point I really think it's clear that he DOES NOT get on the Normandy. Whether that means he dies or not is just an assumption however. Leaving Anderson behind on earth and seeing him make an appearance later is a perfectly good assumption as well.

Or it could also be something stupid like an incomplete cut scene that we are all over analyzing.

Anderson, the stock elder mentor type figure that introduces one to the game world, dying in the opening hours of the game, thus allowing a quick way for the player to know that "**** just got real"?

No, thats impossible. Movies, books, games, they never ever do that. I mean, hell just ask Gorion or Obi Wan or Duncan- nope, never happens.

So if I can prove to you that Anderson is in a later level will that finally dispel this "Anderson dies" stuff ?  Let's give it a go, watch this video :-

Now at 5:17 you see the Atlas Robot descend, then at 5:20 you hear a voice over Shepards communicator.  I am pretty sure that is Anderson saying "Shepard heads up, you got incoming".

Since the Earth level is obviously set at the beginning of the game and the level with the Atlas is well after the beginning it is safe to assume Anderson does not die on Earth.

It sounds nothing like Wrex, you seriously think that sounds like Wrex ?  The way the voice says Shepards name is totally different to the way Wrex says Shepards name and it sounds more like Anderson to me.

Could be anyone. Watch it be Vega or some other character.

Just relax folks.
