Just wondering, if it has been confirmed or not, but the scene in the intro demo, the part where Shepard confronts the boy in the duct, there was a small peice playing throughout the scene. I don't recongnize it as Jack's work, any idea if this was  a small sample of Mansell's contributions so far?
I thought we would get more examples of his work throughout the demo
Either case though if this was his work, it was very moving. Look forward to seeing what he does in the actual game

I'm very interested in what Clint's been up to for the ME3 soundtrack. Feel kind of bad for Wall and Hulick--they made some really good music that fit the ME universe like a glove--but Mansell hasn't let us down in his other works, and I doubt he will now.

I wonder if they'll replace the galactic map song (Uncharted/New Worlds). If they do, I don't know if I'll cry or sigh dejectedly. I'm curious to see if Mansell will be using a totally fresh theme to his soundtrack, or will still play around with keeping the old motifs alive.

I am really hoping they keep that at least. And of course the core themes of Mass Effect like Shep's theme (I guess Specter theme, or something as it was called in ME1)

It could very well be his work. It certainly is beautiful and that is what he does best. I am still enormously excited to hear his more sci-fiy stuff.

Do we have a confirmation or anything?
The part with the kid sounded like his work but I don't know for sure.

The small section of music wasn't enough for me to say yes or no. That scene worked well and the music was faint, light, melancholy and poignant. I credit the scene maybe not so much the music. If we take the music without the scene do we still get melancholy and poignant. If I had to judge it I would say it is appropriate. This will be trial by fire. Wall of Sound was perfect in the first game.

One thing I hope everyone understands is that Mass Effect has established musical themes. It is up to Mansell to enhance the experience.

I look forward to hearing his musical interpretations and some of his original compositions. So far so good.

Bioware have said some of his work would be present in the demos
That's the only piece of music that is unidentifiable/definitely not from previous games or DLC

Ergo, high probability it's the preview of Mansell's soundtrack. That it sounds very much like a Mansell composition, the way the piano chords are strung out and sustained with little tonal interludes interspersed, just reinforces it for me

This is some of Mansell's work: click

Now listen to the music from the scene with the child in the air vents and tell me you don't think that was Mansell's doing. :D

That was an awesome piece of music, so heart striking. Mansell is a worthy replacement, even from just seeing that.

Nooo! That would be terrible. Unless they just update that soundtrack in a ''new coat''. Some musical compositions are too iconic for Mass Effect and need to be left untouched, or at least only modified a little so it doesn't lose its soul.

They made it sound as if we'd be hearing some real stuff from him, not a quick 10 second audio clip when shepards looking in the vents. The other music was either from ME1 or LoTSB/Arrival.

I loved Clint Mansell's work in The Fountain.

Definitely one of the most beautifull musical compositions that fire alot of emotions and thoughts. Clint Mansell is pure genius really.

But what a 10 seconds those were. The more I listen to it the more I love it. Gaaawwwddd... I have a feeling the wait for the soundtrack is going to be almost as ardous as for the game itself.

I'm very heartened by what I heard. It suggests that ME3 will actually be a bit darker, emotional, and more introspective than its supposedly grimdark Hollywood action blockbuster predecessor. And Clint Mansell is the right man for the job.
