My concern for "cheating ramifications"

Virmire Survivor really became a punk in ME2, basically throwing all their loyalty down the crapper.  With a Renegade Shepard, it's understandable because they probably really have become a Cerbiehead.  But with Paragon Shepard... they're stuck with Cerberus because they're the only ones that take Shep's warnings seriously; stuck making the faustian deal because there's no other option (probably by engineering by Cerberus... <_<).  VS throws it in Shepard's face, and especially hard if VS was the love interest from ME1.

They try to apologize afterwards, but for some... what's doen is done, and actions speak louder than words.  VS left paragon Shepard hangin' when s/he needed people s/he could trust the most, left to swim with the proverbial sharks of Cerberus.  Garrus overlooked it.  Tali overlooked it.  Liara's the one responsible for it to begin with.  And Wrex is just glad to see you're still alive.  Only VS is tee'd off.

Along comes some ME3 snippets that there will be, to loosely paraphrase, "dire ramifications for cheating on your ME1 love interest".  This makes me concerned that we will get railroaded into looking like a total cheating douchebag for being put off by VS LI leaving us out to dry.

So, for more paragonic players who felt forced to work with Cerberus because no one else would believe Shepard, will we be able to tell them that loyalty is a two way street, or will we be stuck with "LULZ I CHEETED ON U" and be given fake multiple choice replies that all say basically the same thing?

Why should renegades be punished? I think they're going to suffer enough.

Paragonic players who felt forced to work with Cerberus? Lol? You realize like everyone, renegade or paragon, felt railroaded into working with Cerberus, except some few crazy pro-Cerberus people who are like 1% of the playerbase.

As for your concern, I wouldn't be too worried. There's so much exaggeration and marketing BS being thrown around right now that I'm at the "video or it didn't happen" stage when it comes to believing what will be in the game.

Imagine yourself in the VS's shoes during the ME2 encounter. Your old commander (possibly even your thought-lost love) suddenly appears, and seems to be willingly working with a group that has a reputation for being morally questionable, extremist, and xenophobic, that you even possibly viewed the horrors of during your time with your old commander. On top of all that, he/she is alive! All the while, you've stuck it in with the red-tape of the Alliance and the Citadel, and you're pretty happy with where you stand (a new promotion, and a chance to be doing something that matters).

I'd be a bit flustered at this point. There'd be painful (perhaps longing) memories and emotions once locked-away but suddenly reprising themselves. I'd be conflicted with wanting to follow my old commander, but knowing my true allegiances lie with the Alliance and the Council. I wouldn't want to shirk my duty for a person who was once dead, but now willingly cooperating with a shady group like Cerberus--regardless of how loyal I was to them two years ago.

And, just to bring it up one more time, this person was dead. Who's to say what this person believes in now that they're once again among the living? Are they just following Cerberus because that's who put them back together? Or have they actually defected?

Besides, who doesn't like the odd love-triangle (or square, or pentagon, or dodecahedron if you were a real... ahem, "Shepard," if you know what I mean)? I don't want ME3 to become a soap opera, and it obviously won't, but I do appreciate games trying to bring romance and the idea of love into the realm of shooting-before-talking games. As a person wholly obsessed with story elements and the intricacies of including relationships (romantic or otherwise) into these stories, I completely endorse BioWare's attempts at including romance into this game. It's one of the things that makes ME stand out from the "barbarous multitudes" of desensitizing shooters and gameplay-obsessed RPGs.

What dire rammifications? All I recall is Casey Hudson saying that 'it will come back to haunt you' long before the release of ME2. This could mean anything.

I want to see some punch ups. I stayed faithful to Liara but I still want to see punches thrown in youtube vids. Or Shep really getting into trouble like Shep is dangling from a ledge

Shep: So uh little help
LI: I'm sorry I didn't quite catch that, the squeaky bedsprings were too LOUD

Shep needs some payback.

Fair enough people might not agree with the methods of a renegade. But as long as whats needed to be done, gets done. Where is the harm.

"Renegades" do what they believe is right.

It's a lot more than 1%,and really,Cerberus is not completely bad. They did save the galaxy, that has to count for something. But I still don't trust them. And by the way,Alliance is not that great either, athough they are definitely not as extreme as Cerberus.

I would've thought that "Garrus, Tali and Liara overlooking it" would have satisfied your ego? You should complaining about every little thing that doesn't come to your approval and look at the positives. Hey, Garrus, Tali and Liara are squaddies! Take them and ignore the VS instead of spreading the hate.

Can't speak for Ash as she never made it off Virmire with my Shep's but I thought Kaidan's reaction on Horizon was pretty in character.

The reactions may vary depending on how paragon/renegade your Shep is as well. It'll be interesting to see how the reunion goes, especially with Garrus doing awkward so well.

The harm is from all the needless deaths they cause D:
Just because they believe it's right, doesn't make it any less of a crime.

My guess? At some point you have to save your LI from a certain death. If you have 2 LI's you have to choose which one to save, the other one dies. Just look at previous Bioware games, in a lot of them someone close to you will get kidnapped and you have to save them (DA2, BG2).

That being said.  What was more right "Saving the council" or "Saving the population of the Citadel"?

Sacrifice many for the few.  Or Sacrifice the few for the many?

Clever, but not clever enough! If only she went for a Quarian disguise.

Now I just need a renegade interrupt when she pulls me on the Normandy....

So you're all criticizing Kaidan/Ashley for being upset with Shepard for being with Cerberus, when just seeing him/her alive flips their world upside down, and adding to that the stress of having lost half a colony of people on their watch not even five minutes prior? Really? How exactly would you react to having all that thrown at you all at once?
