My guess? At some point you have to save your LI from a certain death. If you have 2 LI's you have to choose which one to save, the other one dies. Just look at previous Bioware games, in a lot of them someone close to you will get kidnapped and you have to save them (DA2, BG2).

Where did that happen in DA2?? I don't remember *anyone* getting grabbed and you having to save them. Oh, and you forgot KotOR to add to that list.

In Da2 there is a point where you have to save someone close to you, usually its your sibling, I think it was in Act 2, its after you save the renegade mages in the cave, you get a letter from someone asking for your help, I can't remember the Templars name but hes standing outside the cave when you show up, the mages you saved will turn on you and kidnap someone you care for, the  boss mage kills the templar and orders your sibling or friend to be killed and to attack you.  Hope this helps, sorry its kind of a spoiler.

...you can tell I care too much given that I just read through every preceding post to catch up on the topic. Ahem.

In any case, I want the option to let the VS know that he/she really hurt me when they left (ignoring any ramifications from cheating or not). I definitely want an option to let Ash know that I'm hurt but willing to be in a relationship again (Either by working through me leaving her for someone who didn't betray me, or by working through her being a massive jerkface). Taking either a stupidly good option of, "It's ok. You being a massive jerkface and leaving me all alone is fine! Kissy time?" or an emo, "You ruined my life, there's the airlock." may be fine for some people, but I'll be very disappointed if a more neutral choice isn't handled correctly. It wouldn't ruin the romance for me, though. It'd just make it less of a heart-warming, tear-jerking moment and more of a, "Well, at least Bioware made Ashley really hot this time. That's something" moment.

I know that one (i've played DA2, but thanks for worrying anyway), but that doesn't really count since she's not kidnapped from you, but the Circle as a bargaining chip to keep you out of things with Orsino/Meri. Also, the problem with that example is that she/he can be dead in Act 1 and it therefore never takes place.

In KotOR, BG2 you can't avoid the situation, it happens no matter who you romance *or* not.

I want the option to not tell them. What happens on SR2 stays on SR2. I was desperate.

I only cheated because I wanted consequences. But if things happen like in LotSB, we'll get a very anti climatic reaction.
I don't care girlfriend was always "open". Liara risked everything for Shepard just to be betrayed in the end. She should've been angrier than she was.

VS heard all the rumors planted by Cerberus and, what a surprise, they were right.
Shepard was a moron there, too. My mainshep is a sole survivor and I was "facepalming" all the things she said there. No wonder they don't trust Shepard.
How can anyone with a brain trust Cerberus and a lazarus!Shepard made by them? Miranda even confess she wanted to put a control device on Shepard but Tim didn't let her.

The kidnapping from DA2 happens everytime. Only thing that changes is the person if your sibling is dead.
If he is, next is your LI. In the case of Anders/Merrill, they're taked directly from you since they live with Hawke and everything..

So
you're all criticizing Kaidan/Ashley for being upset with Shepard for
being with Cerberus, when just seeing him/her alive flips their world
upside down, and adding to that the stress of having lost half a colony
of people on their watch not even five minutes prior? Really? How
exactly would you react to having all that thrown at you all at
once?

Allow me to redirect you to your meeting with
Garrus. Who despite having just lost all his team to betrayal is still
happy to see you. Even when you show up with two Cerberus operatives in
tow. Or Tali who trusts you know what you are doing.

As opposed to Ashley being outraged at my being with Cerberus even though I just rescued the colony with my two nonhuman non-cerberus companions, one of whom is Garrus.

I'm
not mad at her for not joining my team, just for not giving me the
benefit of the doubt when all my alien friends (who have much greater
reason to be leery of Cerberus) do not doubt me for a second.

Garrus had his soul shattered. It was practically suicide staying on Omega. He did.

Tali can be explained two ways:

1)  She actually had time to process the information as she refused to join you on Freedom's progress. Even the VS apologise how they said what they did (if LI) after the mission when they actually had time to think about it, and not after watching hundreds of people and friends be abducted by horrible monsters.

2) One could say she doesn't particularly care about humans and their dillemas. Cerberus? Whatever, humans. Abducted colonies? Whatever, human problem.

Garrus leaving with Shepard after they meet in Omega might have something to do with the straits that Shepard finds him in, but his reason for staying with Shepard is a bit more complicated.  He could have asked to get off the first refueling stop.  But he interacted with Cerberus crew (-paraphrase- They treated him civily, gave him respect for the whole Saren thing - ) and stayed on board.

With respect to Tali, she flat out says that she is staying on the ship for Shepard, to watch his back. (Tali had more reason to be leery of Cerberus than you imply with #2.  Her race had bad history with Cerberus in the two years that Shepard was dead.)

Let's be honest - if you suddenly saw someone alive who was either: 1) a good friend; or 2) a lover, who you thought had been dead in the last two years, wouldn't you be happy?  Wouldn't you give them more than two minutes to catch up on the last two years?  And if you seriously thought that they had been brainwashed or lobotomized or drugged into turning traitor, wouldn't you stay as close to them as possible to prevent further abuse by the enemy?

In my opinion, if Kaidan/Ashley truly thought that Shepard was being used/subverted/whatever by Cerberus, then that character should have pulled out a gun and dragged Shepard by gunpoint back to the Alliance forthwith for deprogramming.  Instead, there was a lot of accusations and a petty stalking off, stage left.

To be candid, I was disappointed in the Kaidan romance in ME1 (the Ashley one was better), and disliked Kaidan's actions actively in ME2.

My only fear is that ME3 will force femShep to return to Kaidan because she happened to romance him in ME1. If so, I am going to have stop playing ME3, replay ME1 again on a new femShep, kill him off, and prevent that from happening.

The Husband actually killed Kaidan off twice on his playthroughs, once he saw how annoyed I was with that character. It was the sweetest thing!

Hence the cunning Miranda disguise!

Clever, but not clever enough! If only she went for a Quarian disguise.

Now I just need a renegade interrupt when she pulls me on the Normandy....

Renegade interrupt pops up. *Shepard pulls out M-920 Cain*

Nah, Renegade interrupt would be this:

*Ash pulls Shepard up* --> *Shepard pulls Ash down into a horde of Reaper Cannibals*

ULTIMATE RENEGADE INTERRUPT!

There REALLY needed to be a "what part of 'I was literally dead' do you not understand?" option on horizon.

LOL!  This!

My Sheps all understood Kaiden on Horizon.  The fact is as sweet as Kaiden is he has always been a tool of the alliance who buys into the whole good guys wear white hats fantasy, its actually part of his charm and to be frank fem shep is way more woman than Kaiden can handle unless femshep wants to let him do the handling and even then Kaiden is well aware that he is NOT the driver of that bus.  I sincerely hope there will be an option to get a little payback for his Horizon shenanigans I have a couple femsheps that will get back with him but I have a Vanguard that will stay with Garrus and an infiltrator in the works that belongs solely to Thane- you know eventually.

I guess that's a close as you can get to it.
