I never used the heavy weapons in ME2, except to try them out. There weren't any situations where I found them needed or more useful than my basic toolkit, and I play on insanity. They were just extra weight on my back, and an eyesore. As miniscule of a gain as it was, I preferred to just never use them and get the 100 extra credits every time I picked up heavy ammo.
Didn't the Cain make you feel like Duke Nukem?

Most heavy weapons in ME2 were only just worth carrying, at least on the casual/normal/veteran difficulty settings (which are supposedly the way the game is "meant to be played"). If I'd had the option of leaving my heavy weapon on the Normandy in exchange for, say, +10% storm speed, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. In ME3 they need to pack a little more punch IMO.

That would be a very universal weapon, as it would destroy any thing in seconds.

Its from quite some time ago, so things might have changed, but it should still be applicable.

There are in fact some new heavy weapons, though the total available pool has been slimmed down a bit... mostly because of some of the ways that they're distributed now. If you're curious about specifics... I'd suggest talking to Corey (he's relatively active on twitter).
He showed off a pretty amazing heavy weapon yesterday... it made things go away...

This here, there was never a situation where I couldn't get through with just my standard weapons and powers.

Yep, standard weapons worked just fine. It's not like some heavy weapons could be of use, some of them had a nice concept behind them, if you took the right HW for the right mission. But since you are rewarded with extra money when you don't use them, that's exactly what I did.

Widow is better than any heavy weapon. Headshots 1-shot everything but bosses and Vanguards, especially with 7/7 Sniper upgrades, +50% headshot damage upgrade and Warp ammo.
Agreed, its stupid deadly with Tungsten Ammo too.

i want the option to NOT HAVE ONE.
i hated them in ME2, i never used them, they were just this big annoying gun on my back that i couldnt get rid of. always equiped the flame thrower because it was the smallest.
let me have more ammo and hand grenades if i dont opt to take a heavy weapon...PLEASE.
YESYESYES! Exactly my thoughts!
