At the end of this video, it looks as though Anderson decides to stay behind on Earth (read the dialogue choices on the screen behind Casey Hudson). Given that the Reapers are, well... reaping, and that Anderson is only a few steps from the Normandy and escape, I'm inferring that he stays behind to organize the Resistance while Shepard goes for reinforcements. I was worried that he was going to be killed off in the first ten minutes (R.I.P. Jenkins), but becoming John Connor actually sounds like an interesting role for him.

This seems both likely and interesting. It would allow the devs to pluck Anderson out of Shepard's squad without making him a disposable redshirt, which would cause these forums to erupt with rage. It gives him a role to play while Shepard's off rallying the troops, without actually having him overshadow Shepard. It fits with the lore of him stepping down in Retribution, because we very well couldn't have the first human councilor staying behind on Earth. Udina will probably take over his role.

Heck, maybe the slower it takes you to get back to Earth, the more likely Anderson's going to bite the big one. It gives you incentive to move your a**, that's for sure.

They pay Kieth David too much to kill him in the first 10 mins.

Well, someone has to go find Doc Brown to go back in time to prevent this from happening. And Shepard stays to make sure there's a future to come back to!

That certainly would be a cool outcome (him leading the resistance on earth I mean)... if they Kill Anderson off in the intro I'll be very aggravated... a character of such poise and integrity deserves to at least make it close to the end of the game where he could at least die in a noble and honorable manner, having fought to the bitter end (if he has to die I mean.. though I'd prefer he survived at the end).

Hmm Could be.
One option looks like: your staying and the other oh hell no you're not
Certainly neither option looks like holey crap Anderson just got killed dialogue

Maybe we can get someone who was there to clarify. Also Ashley does not appear to be firing her weapon at anything. So Yeah definitely not looking like death.

Seems very logical...if he's not the human councilor.

If he is should he abandoned the post (leaving to Udina maybe?) to lead La Resistance?

Wow, great catch!

There are probably multiple people at Bioware that are lessed than pleased that bit of dialogue was visible. I'd expect that to be edited out by tomorrow if this thread doesn't blow up (or even if it does, heh).

That is a cool idea but maybe he'll end up getting indoctrinated and we will have to fight robotic frogger anderson as a sub-boss.

I kinda hope not because I would love for Anderson to have a larger role in ME3, in all honesty I think Anderson was extremely underused in ME and virtually missing from ME2.

I hope that if he was named as Councilor he leaves on the Normandy if he's not I guess he can stay on Earth fighting the Reapers. Maybe this is one example of how choices will affect ME3.

Great catch! It seems the most likely option.

It just doesn't make sense to me that anyone would still be alive on Earth by the time you get there. Sorry. They've done this for millions of years. Pretty sure they know how to reap a planet, well before you finish all of your side-quests for the aliens.

I will be momentarily disappointed if anyone is still alive on Earth when it is retaken.

Yeah great catch.

I've been wondering who it was that was going to say behind (someone always has to stay behind and fight on the homefront and all that in these situations, almost cliche), I thought it would be one of your crew/previous squadmates, but Anderson is a great choice too.

While you're up there, he's down there tearing sh*t up.

He's as dead as disco.

What sort of resistance is he going to lead in a dying city surrounded by husks and all out of ammo? Not to mention Casey referred to him as Shepard's "mentor" and "moral compass".

The only resistance he'll lead is providing one of the cannibal husks with a tough bowel movement.

Anderson hates his Councilor job.

Spoiler alert.

Vancouver might be last mission in ME3.

Not to mention Casey referred to him as Shepard's "mentor" and "moral compass".

Well he is, since ME1.

The only resistance he'll lead is providing one of the cannibal husks with a tough bowel movement.

It takes time to seduce population in not attacking conqueror, long time.

And Vancouver is huge. Not even Reaper can clear out entire city in less then a year.

Well that disconfirms my topic, where I totally proved that Anderson died.

Nuts.

I know that there are some players that feel Anderson is their Shepard's mentor/moral compass but that does not apply to all Shepards. My two main Shepards never really liked him but maybe he will be redeemed in ME3.

Will Resistance members bear the Lambda logo?

...

Oh, wait.

Anyway, if Anderson does stay on earth, I hope he doesn't die. Just because he's awesome.
