That's what we did.... IN THE SECOND GAME!

Aside from the fact that recruitment/loyalty missions are padding that distracts from the plot, what the hell was the point of ME2 then? You've already confirmed that most of the squaddies aren't returning as permanent squad mates.. and confirmed a new unwanted human squadmate. So basically the whole driving force behind ME2 was thrown out?

ME3 should be entirely about the reaper invasion. Everything should revolve around that. If I spend 90% of the reaper invasion playing babysitter, AGAIN, the ME trilogy will be a colossal disappointment.

This series should have been 2 parts not a trilogy.

I expect this will be more like DAO... IN SPACE. Each character you babysit will be some sort of ambassador to a race or some crap e.g Garrus for Turians, Wrex for krogan, Liara for Asari, etc.

There'll be a mix of new and returning characters.

BW can't completely alienate new players by constantly referring to squadmembers from ME/ME2. Some new characters also gives them more storytelling opportunities, particularly if they're archetypes we haven't seen before.

Not to mention that Garrus and Tali (and all of the ME2 crew) could be dead. Merely two absolutely, 100% confirmed squadmates in Liara and Kaidan/Ashley doesn't exactly make a team.

I only kind of agree with "This isnt my name".

I could see them closing up the game in two installments, but I feel the build up wouldn't have been as dramatic. ME2 gave us time to investigate the reapers and their plans. It also allowed us to get acquainted with the terminus systems and the different races/organizations who live there. It introduced cerberus. There are also a lot of unanswered questions that ME2 brought into light.

In marketese what he's hinting at is fewer squadmates= more squaddie dialogue, that is less "can't it wait, I'm in the middle of some calibrations" and more chatter from in-game NPC's.

But go ahead and kill yourself right now just in case.

You spent 90% of the time not fighting an Archdemon in the middle of a Blight, so you should feel right at home.

IMO I'm starting to think everyone should be a temporary companion. You move on as you move along.

That's not even funny. If this turns out to be the case I can confidently say that I will have lost all faith in the ME writers because that is just weak and uninspired coming from a company renowned for their well crafted stories.

My hope is that you have the core squad- VS, Liara, Garrus, Tali, random new guy I don't care about- and then one or two slots for potential ME2 LI (or someone of your choosing from the ME2 squad if you were single/decided to try to hash it out with ME1 LI). Because, quite frankly, I think the Jacob/Miranda/Thane/Jack fans are going to be really f--king pissed if they have to basically never see their LI/go out of their way to travel to see them.

It would be one hell of a cheap move on Bioware's part, particularly since two have absolutely no reason not to stay with Shepard (Jack and Jacob- no family, no particular loyalty to an outside group) and while Thane and Miranda have Oriana and Kolyat to consider, they've already demonstrated loyalty to both Shepard and mission, and neither Kolyat nor Oriana are infants who need to be watched over constantly.

Creative, but I wouldn't give two craps about a temporary character.

Unless you affected what happens to them afterward.

No, couldn't care less - afterall, they were only around temporarily.

I don't care what happens to people who are only around me temporarily in real life(barring anything extreme).

Bioware games are all about companions.

This isn't surprising at all, I laughed when people were 'convinced' this wouldn't happen in Mass Effect 3.

That made me cringe.

I don't want to spend another entire game putting people together for a team, or gaining allies to beat the Reapers (as the ENTIRE gameplay). Please don't structure ME3 like ME2. Structure the story more like ME1, make it driving and purposeful...not gathering people and babysitting.
