Any chance of the deluxe edition having a digital download minus the physical items, of course? (IE the deluxe edition would now contain ingame outfits, weapons and the robotic dog! only) Living in Australia I'm not too keen on having to shell out an extra 20-60% price increase on a game because of government taxing and chain store price inflation. Hell, I'd love the physical items as well, but this to me seems the only work around.

Just an example:
Duke Nukem Forever *DIGITAL* cost in the USA = <50 dollars
Duke Nukem Forever *DIGITAL* cost in Autralia = 80 dollars

And those arn't even physical copies subject to price inflation

Don't think that will happen.

Prices are particularly bad in our local stores at the moment because although the US dollar is weak and indeed has broken even a few times, the prices aren't reflecting that, because the US is letting inflation rise to boost consumption and hence employment. It should get better but right now you have to choose to either support local stores and fork out the extra cash or just buy online.

Mate, simple. Go on OZgamershop or even Dungeon Crawl. You can get the game the next day from both depending on ur distance. Retail is a load in Australia, well and truly, u can save around $30 if you shop online(depending of store)

@Whereto: I'd do that, if the shipping wasn't anywhere from a week to two weeks.

Far easier to spend the extra $30 and play it straight away. There's a chance that with retail competition among retailers in Australia for the CE (as far as I know JB, EB and GAME will all have it) the price might be less than it would be if it were exclusive to just one of them.

JB will have a deal going but no word on prices yet. I'm more concerned with the Uber edition if they're talking about $100 US for it I shudder to think what that might set me back.

There is no uber edition...

@Whereto: Last time I got it from EB.

I'm thinking JB this time, but I'll wait and see what happens with their pricing. All 3 retailers have been pretty slow in getting the information up.

Don't forget the option of buying it from the NZ based Mightyape.co.nz.

The $A to $NZ rate is fairly good so the higher NZ prices translate to slightly less than retail Aus. prices; they usually stock the CE's (did for ME2) and the shipping, while slower than a local distributor is still fairly good (got ME2 CE within 5 days of release).

While I haven't tried their Aust. version of the store (as I haven't bother calculating the exchange rate differentials) it also exists and may stock the CE.

Ozgameshop is another option. Pre-order the standard edition for 43 AUD. It's where I picked up BFBC2 from. Free shipping. Delivery took about a week. You can also get BF3 for $45. Which is a lot better than the $90 EB Games charge you.

I'm importing from the US. It's a freaking crime to charge us $80 for the NON-CE edition when our dollar is HIGHER than the USD. I sort of accepted it with DA2 but our dollar has gone up since then and if the retailers in our country can't get their heads out of their cloacas.. well, that's THEIR problem not mine.

That said, the CE isn't even available from Origin for us yet.

OzGameshop is a good option as well, I paid $45 for my DA2 pre-order and only had to wait a week and half post-release day to play. Kind of want to play ME3 on release day but beggars can't be choosers eh?

OzGamershops only disadvantage is the fact that, depending on ur distance from the warehouse, you delivery times may vary. At least with Dungeon Crawl, you have the option of how you want it sent. They of course do charge you a bit extra for the 2 day delivery, but its still heaps cheaper than the crap they will charge u in store.

@Elite, don't buy from the big guys such as EB, your better off with the the pure online stores or ones that offer good deals, none of which are from EB or GAME(rare if ever)

So in summary, you are being ripped off here in Australia, so youll have to buy you CE from a online store if you want a respectable price

I buy practically *everything* from OzGameShop normally, their prices are fantastic.

But I don't really want to wait a week to get my copy of ME3. Price is less a concern to me, in this case, than time. Given $30 or a week, I'd pay the $30 to buy it from a retail store on day one.

Like I said above, I'm hoping that the fact that this isn't an exclusive deal with one store will introduce a bit of competition. When stores get exclusivity (EB with the new Assassin's Creed CE, for example) they charge absurd prices.
