Why are Reaper's Vestments so dman expensive? They cost 92 gold and give the following bonus:
+6 constitution
+20% fire resistance
+16% spell resistance
+10% chance to dodge attacks
+12 armor
Tevinter Mage Robes only cost six gold and give this:
+1/+2 mana regeneration in combat
+4% spell resistance
+5 spellpower
Is that extra spell and fire resistance, without getting the bonus to spellpower, worth the extra 85 gold?

You can encounter a fight and check the efficiency of the 2 robes, which one is better, all of us can see. But it is not the most expensive things in the game, you know. Things make the Reaper's vestments too expensive like that mainly come from the spell resistance and fire resistance, then the ability to dodge attacks (10% for the robe is damn much). The constitution and the armor are just the secondary bonus to boost the cost.

If your mage isn't getting hit too much (it helps to stay mobile and not play tank), then stick with the Tevinter Mage Robes. The boost to spellpower and mana regen are nice.
When it comes to mage durability, don't forget about rock armor+arcane shield. The lifegiver ring is also handy as it will boost constitution by +10, armor by +3 and health regen by +6.
If you have the Witch Hunt dlc, you can unlock Vestments of the Seer, which are the best mage robes in the game, in my humble opinion. http://dragonage.wik...nts_of_the_Seer

I second the Vestments of the Seer, those robes look so much better than Reaper's Vestments, which look like a caveman outfit on a male Warden, imho. Of course the stats on Seer are way better too, unless you need the fire resistance.

I've looked at Reaper's Vestments many times and always passed on the purchase. It is not a bad robe by any means, but there are so many other good robes that can be gained in battle along the way that I never found a good reason to buy the Vestments.
