I hope all of our squadmates will have armor this time around. ME 2 outfits were a frickin' joke. This is supposed to be a war afterall. Now I've seen some pics of Ashley which she seems to be wearing a catsuit with high heels, God no! If some of our squad mates don't wear armor then please make it so Shepard can smack them for being complete idiots.

Or give two outfits per characters (lame out of place outfit & armor) and let us choose immediately after we have recruited them.

Definitely. Sensible armor for squadmates. Otherwise, I will not be taking them off the Normandy. At least not voluntarily.

I believe all squadmates should be forced to wear Garrus's armor. Maybe Wrex's too.

The funny thing is that Bioware did it the right way with Mass Effect 1. Your squadmates wore armor when they left the Normandy and wore casual wear when they were in the Normandy. I'm not asking for tons of different armor to select from like in ME1, just one armor per character would do. I just don't want to fight with a squadmate that's half naked (Jack) or in a tight suit with high heels (Miranda) like in ME2.

Sorry, they will still not be as awesome as him.

@Radwar
An iconic armor for each character and their own casual outfit would be the best of both worlds, I think. And helmets while in vacuum/hazardous environments.

Honestly, I know what wearing high heels is like. Running in them in hard enough. But wearing them in combat, on purpose, makes a character Too Dumb To Live in my book.

If I remember correctly, Ashley was wearing some more appropriate armor than the catsuit Miranda sported in ME2. While it was obviously accentuating some of her... features, it at least looked like fully functional armor in the style of some of the female armor from ME1.

Ah yes helmets, another thing Bioware did right from the get go in Mass Effect 1 and screwed up in Mass Effect 2. Let us equip/remove helmets whenever we want, not only for Shepard but for squadmates aswell. And no more breathing mask crap.

Of course not. But it will be great if they had a good role model, ya know.

I hope we get a new character named Sister Mary Margaret who runs around in full nun battle armor screaming "DONT CROSS ME" just so nobody can say she's too scantily clad!!!

If she does she should use it as a weapon. I just went there.

I don't think Everyone needs armor. Just those characters should wear armor which are making sense. Like Ashley, she is a soldier who worn heavy armor in ME1 and 2, and now she is wearing a catsuit. That is madness. However Kasumi for example don't need heavy armor, she is a thief it would just slow her down.

As long as she isn't making her first appearance in the Phoenix armor again, I really don't care what she is wearing. That Phoenix armor has got to be the ugliest design I've ever seen.

Armor would be nice to see on squadmates again but somehow I'm doubting it.

Yes, that looks like some mighty protection...

Although I never liked the colors for the Phoenix armor (pink?).

Unfortunately, not everybody likes the "full on armory" look in games. I mean that some people just look and perform better without armor around them. Like Thane for example. He would perform better without armor and still look pretty damn good. Although.. I think that if everyone had good ol N7 armor like Shepard, that would be nice too.

She was wearing Wedges (which is a form of high heel and completely impractical in a combat situation) in the pic I saw bud.  It was something from E3, game footage.

Yep. They can wear whatever the hell they want on the Normandy or away from action sequences, but if we're going into combat, at least make an effort to tie your hair back, put on some armour, and lose the heels.

Dammit.

I don't want to play a teenage boys fantasty!

That armor looks so awful to me that Ashley actually looks better with the helmet on than off in it. The other armor is fine, it's just that Phoenix design....

Ah, yes... "armor in combat situations". We have dismissed that claim.

You wear what you should depending on the situations. These are battles that are fought in the open, Kasumi would use stealth, silence and backstabs to kill her foes when thieving. Shepard has straight fights and a thieving outfit when everyone sees you just doesn't cut it. Same for thing for Thane, In the past, he's was a silent assasin and light outfits are best for these situations but not on a battlefield where everyone sees you. Adequate protection is a must in those situation.

Plastic?

And simple fabric with no other protection at the back portion of the feet?

I didn't say that I wanted that design (I'm not a fan of the Phoenix armor either, really hated that Bioware made that armor canon for her when showing scenes like in ME2), it was just to show that Ashley's new outfit certainly isn't armor. Personally I'd make her wear the Collosus armor.

I think the armor was more broken in ME1. I never understood how physcal armor can bring real protection against high speed projectiles and why BW didn't set the focus more on barrier/shilds and threatened the actual armor as environment suit if you need one and uniform/casual wear if not.
That said an envirnoment suit in open space or toxic environment should be completly closed.
