 Didn't get an answer to this on the Mac tech help forums, but I finally heard from a friend the reason why WItch Hunt (even patched) doesn't import the Dark Ritual choices correctly is that Origins flags both options - both for refusing it and going along with it.

My question is: how does it work correctly in DA2 then? Will there be trouble eventually?

Within DA2 there's no problem with any Morrigan related plotflags as they aren't used anywhere.
It might be a problem later down the road though, depending on whether or not those flags are going to be used at some point in the future.
We have had BioWare devs hinting on the forums that they are working on a sollution for this. So we might get a patch for DA:O at some point in the future. That wont fix your existing save, but it will at least allow for non-buggy save exports. 
Who knows? Maybe they'll also fix any still remaining bugs in DA:O at the same time? Weirder things have happened after all; Duke Nukem Forever came out for one..

Oh dear, that would mean playing through my games at least twice more in order to fix the flags? Well, it's better than more bugs, I guess... 

Still, my DA2 says Alistair performed the Dark Ritual with Mrrigan, so *something* must have gone right. Weird.

You shouldn't have to. There are savegame editors out there that allow you to change the plot flags in your savegames if you don't want to replay. The major problem is that any savegame, post DAO (Awakenings, WH, etc.) did not handle who lived/died properly. Nathaniel, Leliana, etc, would all show up in the game even if they were killed off previously. The friendship/love stats were simply not carried over. THey are for regular DAO saves.

In order for this to be fixed, they need to patch DAO as DA2 is just pulling in what DAO exports...if the export is missing info, then there isn't much they can do to DA2.

Uh... I'm not sure about savegame editors for Mac :/

Anyway, I only *have* tried DAO savegames for DA2. Witch Hunt didn't pick up the Dark Ritual flags properly, and I was told that's because of a bug in DAO.

DA2 *does* seem to pick up on the Dark Ritual (even if the Friendship/Love variables are a mess). I'm afraid this will create more problems in the future, and I was just wondering how to prevent that.
