You cannot enable trophies by using someone else's game save. The trophies are not saved to the game save data, they are saved to your consoles hard rive.
This addition to the PS3 version is moot, and potentially extremely problematic if original Origin saves are to play any part in a sequel to the game.

ok let me explain it like so.....you make a game save with 99 monsters killed and you need 100 to get a trophy...then all you need to do is load up that save and kill 1 monster and there you go
i wasnt talking about instant trophy...but a save file someone will make so that you have to do less work to get the trophy...understand?
...the trophies are in a server waiting for your saved file to do what it needs to do to unlock it
they are NOT in your HDD because it wouldn't make sense when you switch to another PS3 and log on to your account that you would end up with your trophies out of nowhere...since you have to SYNC to the server to get your trophies...hence why it always syncs to the server whenever you get new trophies

To save them online you are required to synch them to server where, here, they are locked and cannot be erased.
You will not be able to unlock any trophies with a game save belonging to another unit. Period.
The original game save needs to have been created on that system for the trophies to be valid and available to unlock.

also @ Rusty Balls - PSN trophies are NOT IN YOUR HDD they are synced in your PSN account....i repeat psn trophies are NOT IN YOUR HDD....trophies do not take space in your HDD and do not have any affect in your HDD...you move to another PS3 and sign in with YOUR ACCOUNT you can TRANSFER TROPHIES via syncing with the server....
idk what your source is for thinking trophies are in the HDD but it's completely false...that's like saying your PSN purchase history is in your HDD....completely false

Because you login to PSN *AND* Dragon Age servers to authenticate what content you can/cant access.
And Trophy data *is* stored on your HD, thats how you can earn trophies while offline and then SYNC with the server when you next login to PSN. This is so that the PSN server has a record of trophies earned, but Rusty is right, you're sending information stored locally to an online backup @PSN. When you move to another PS3 and sign in your account, you sync back the other direction, and PSN tells your PS3 what trophies you have.
And you cannot use a save for trophies, like has been mentioned, the 'act' of getting a trophy is done locally by the game software, and stored in a file on your HD that is *bound to a specific PS3 account/PSN id* It's not in the savefile itself, otherwise they would have been able to grant people trophies based on past-saves, for the games that added trophy support after release. You had to go back and do it all over again.
Which is why I don't understand why they have chosen to copy protect the save itself. If the savefile contains my PSN id (Creidim77) and my EA Account login information, why cant they lock it to those two criteria (PSN/EA) and not to the HARDWARE???
Maybe all the free HD space they were willing to part with for PC users to upload profiles, they could give us console players a few MB to store a game save offsite, so we can restore it to another PS3. Heck make it DLC, a 'tome of memories' for 99cents, 1 time use item. I almost guarantee anyone with 40hrs + into this game so far is going to be willing to pay a buck to know that it isn't all going to vanish into digital ether in the event of a hardware failure

Not being able to back up our own saves in case of hardware failure/migrating to new console is a joke. I feel strongly enough about this that I won't be purchasing any more games that have this 'file protection' implementation in the future.
.............................no offense but how the hell would you even know if its password protected???????
the box doesnt tell you, the main site of the game wouldnt tell you, even sites like wikipedia wont tell you, you'd have to trust word of mouth and even then someone might lie to you just to see you get pissed when you get it and it DOES have the lock on it

110+ hours of DA:O, PS3 crashed and needs to be replaced, DA:O is the only game save data I can't back up and, incidentally, the data I care most about backing up. Thanks EA/Bioware.
That really sucks, I feel your pain. My PS3 has been repaired twice, it's now like a ticking time bomb & just a matter of time before it dies again.
Come on EA/Bioware, are reading this. STOP using Copy Protected Saves in your games & patch them out. Your only hurting your loyal paying customers.

Everyone does realize that your posts are falling on death ears. Bioware can't do anything about it because EA owns them and because of the massive cheating both offline and online, is the reason why we are in this situation. So if your going to blame anyone blame all the cheaters in the gaming world.
Copy protection is never going to be remove and so deal with it and move on.
Come on now, you don't know that.
As for EA taking responsibility, that doesn't look like it's ever going to happen. I have spoken to their customer service team on the phone and I have also submitted a support ticket (about this issue and another one) and all they do is refer you to these forums – even though I've explained that no BioWare reps are getting back to us.
Massive cheating online and offline? With gamesaves? Be realistic. Whilst I agree that there are always exploits that people will use to win these really apply to online MP games and games with online leaderboards.
Let's face it, if someone used a gamesave to get a trophy for Dragon Age the only thing they are getting cheated out of is enjoying an amazing story – their loss.

petition?
That's good idea, but where?
Or maybe a Poll on this Forum, but like that other guy said, no one from Bioware would chime in anyways.
