You can download the podcast here, but I've probably cut out most of the relevant "new" information:

Pcgamer guys talked to Bioware.

"Jacob isn't coming back because everyone hated him" (referring to squad mate status)
"There are no new love interests"
(paraphrase) "All of the romances are with existing characters"
(paraphrase) "85% of people who romanced Liara in ME1 cheated on her"

It was posted on Pcgamer on May 6, 2011. It's "possible" that some of the information is outdated.

In particular, the Jacob not coming back comment seems to be the most solid, because that's two magazines who say they spoke to Bioware saying that Jacob isn't coming back due to people not liking him. It could be that they're misinterpreting the information Bioware gave them, but at this point I wouldn't expect Jacob to be on the squad in ME3.

The no new love interests thing may or may not be true, as Casey said that it may or may not be true.
The 85% statistic seems to be legit, although it's possible that the pcgamer person who spoke to Bioware may have just said it to represent the majority of players cheating.

Old information, but the podcast also states that Kaidan/Ashley, Garrus, Tali, Liara, and Vega are squad mates.

I don't think this info is legit, or at least 100% legit. PC Gamer has a habit of throwing out a bunch of BS whenever they feel like it.

Yea, I wouldn't take what's said in the podcast as 100% for certain. But I am worried about Jacob now.

That is really harsh. I liked him; I just didn't like the romance. It felt too forced at the beginning, and lets not forget "The Prizzeee."

He is coming back in some form because he was a LI. Somebody out there romanced him and deserves to see it to its conclusion at least.

Casey said Jacob is coming back, as well as Miranda.

if they brought back Alenko, they better bring back Jacob
don't need to give the "ME2 was a waste of time" haters more ammo

The pcgamer podcast says that Jacob's not coming back as a squad mate specifically. They did say that everyone is "coming back" in some shape or form, but that Jacob's not a squad mate.

More likely Jacob will only have a cameo.
Sucks for Jacob. It's all because of the priiize dialogue!

I don't think 'hated' is the right word. I was simply apathetic towards him.

I wanted to listen to the podcast for myself, but honestly I just wanted to kick them through the internet.

Apathetic would have been a better word for them to use.

The romance information is incorrect; PC Gamer based that off a month-old interview with Hudson.

There will be new love interests and romances available with new characters (and possibly old ones, we're not sure).

It's unclear what "new love interest" entails.
For example, if Joker is a romance option in ME3, some may say he's a "new love interest" while others wouldn't because he's a previously existing character.

I prefer this one...

Anyway, Jacob not being a squad member, though fairly likely he'll still be in the game, makes some sense I suppose. There's plenty of other biotics to fill in his role and seeing as they've said that they'll be making the available squad members a smaller group this time around, someone had to get the ax.

How do they know everyone hated him? Do they probe peoples' brains for info now?

Hmh, Jacob isn't hated.

I think Tali is more hated then Jacob.

Good, I hope he's not in, otherwise I think Í'll have to go back and wipe him out. It's not even really that he's a bad character, it's just that there are so many others far more interesting than him.

No time for Jacob.

Well, they do have statistics. It isn't concrete, but it can paint somewhat of a picture.

They don't know everyone hated him. But Bioware has statistics about how many players romanced him, for how much he was used on missions etc., *and* it is suprising how few people you really need for a representative poll if you know enough about the target demographics.

A few facts from one of early offsite polls with 850 reponses:

(1) Average rating of Jacob on a 1-10 scale: 5.3 (which is lower than everyone but Kaidan and Morinth)
(2) No. of female players (of 148) who liked Jacob's romance best: 0

That is not representative of course, but it's a good indication where things stand with him.

Thing is, people who hate Tali hate her because she's popular. She's got a RIDICULOUSLY large fanbase(I'm proud to be one of her original supporters YEARS ago that got the ball rolling on the romance support). No one hated her before she was popular. They just didn't like her or were totally indifferent to her. No extreme positions on the negative side. Now that she's got this huge fanbase there's a bunch of people going, "OH, SHE IS TEH SUXXORS. SHE DEAD IN MAH PLAYTHROUGH."

With Jacob, people think he's boring(I know I feel that way). I don't think its that people necessarily "hate" Jacob(so I'd agree that Tali is more hated, albeit for bad reasons), but that the reaction for Jacob is simple-

People don't really care for him. Hell, more people care for Kaiden than Jacob(or so it seems). He's just....there.

To be perfectly honest, I'd gladly get rid of Jacob if it meant Kaiden could've survived Virmire and made his way to ME3 along with Ash and the rest of the original squad. No nostalgia reasons here, just that I found him more interesting than Jacob in pretty much every fathomable way.

I totally understand Jacob not being a permanent squaddie due to his fan reaction. It makes perfect sense, actually.
