Also, the no new LIs thing is apparently not true as C.Hudson wrote on twitter that there will be some new LIs.
Maybe he's rejoined the Alliance

All of the squadmates are returning, we just don't know who will be cameos, who will be temp squaddies, and who will be permanent.TMA LIVE wrote...
Casey said Jacob is coming back, as well as Miranda.

Way to put someone down, D-Bag. I always play my Male Shep, but I know that if I played FemShep and heard those things I'd of beaten him to a pulp. Or at least called him out on it.

You can download the podcast here, but I've probably cut out most of the relevant "new" information:
Pcgamer guys talked to Bioware.
"Jacob isn't coming back because everyone hated him" (referring to squad mate status)
"There are no new love interests"
(paraphrase) "All of the romances are with existing characters"
(paraphrase) "85% of people who romanced Liara in ME1 cheated on her"
It was posted on Pcgamer on May 6, 2011. It's "possible" that some of the information is outdated.
In particular, the Jacob not coming back comment seems to be the most solid, because that's two magazines who say they spoke to Bioware saying that Jacob isn't coming back due to people not liking him. It could be that they're misinterpreting the information Bioware gave them, but at this point I wouldn't expect Jacob to be on the squad in ME3.
The no new love interests thing may or may not be true, as Casey said that it may or may not be true.
The 85% statistic seems to be legit, although it's possible that the pcgamer person who spoke to Bioware may have just said it to represent the majority of players cheating.
Old information, but the podcast also states that Kaidan/Ashley, Garrus, Tali, Liara, and Vega are squad mates.
Either this info is outdated or just BS, it has already been posted that there will be new LI's. I hope that what they said about Jacob, not coming back is true, lol, he was a waste, if hes a squadmate again I'll shoot him myself. Also it has been confirmed that some LI's will be romanceable by either male or female Sheps, so all those that want s/s romances will get it and those that don't will get that too, kind of like DA:O where some characters were BI and some straight.

His opinion...did you see the IGN interview yesterday?Collider wrote...
"Jacob isn't coming back because everyone hated him" (referring to squad mate status)
"Face it no one chose Kaidan..."
Proven false as Casey had to correct that bit of info through twitter"There are no new love interests"
Tied to what was said before...again proven false by Hudson through twitter...(paraphrase) "All of the romances are with existing characters"
Why bring up old info?

That's not the same thing. The IGN interviewer said that for most people Kaidan isn't being to be alive. His opinion...did you see the IGN interview yesterday?
The PCgaming Magazine and that other magazine said that they spoke to Bioware and Jacob isn't coming back because he wasn't popular enough.
I suggest listening to the podcast yourself if you want more context.
It's ambiguous. As said before, it's unclear what "new love interests" means.Proven false as Casey had to correct that bit of info through twitter

I heard it the day they released it.
"While there is indeed an article in PC Gamer, keep in mind unless the article says "Casey Hudson said..." or similar, what they are writing is their take on the information they have seen (this applies to ALL media/magazines/websites, etc). Don't get too worked up on any one item until you hear it confirmed by BioWare someplace."

Podcast is pretty much what the magazine article they wrote.
The PS3M said on Jacob:
"ME2's other human character and a potential squeeze for female Shepards, we don't expect to see Jacob back as a playable squad mate. He was the least popular of your crew on the Normandy 2."
Sounds like an opinion...do you see a developer saying this?
Yeah we don't know but we know from Hudson there will be new love interests who are not only permanent squadmates and M/M and F/F romances. It's ambiguous. As said before, it's unclear what "new love interests" means.

I liked Jacob right from the start when he decided to tell you he was Cerberus and they brought you back. That told me he had my back and wasn't just some "following orders" drone. You trust me I trust you, an eye for an eye and all that...
It'd be nice if him and Miranda were the two other squadmates. We'd have them from ME2. So we would have VS and Liara from ME1. And Tali and Garrus for recurring.

"Jacobs isn't coming back because everyone hated him"
*Laughter*
"Every major character will be in the game to some extent"
This is one right after another.
Frankly we don't know at all the fate of ME2 exclusive squadmembers in ME3
The developers have said they all return but they would not spoil in what capacity they return in.
Finally:
twitter.com/#!/macwalterslives/status/78122310082637824
"Anyone who ever created something knows how much we love the #ME3 characters. We'll handle them with care, like a baby... or #nitroglycerin."

This was also mention by Jesse Houston at today's online Q&A / Demo. Specifically, he said that all the characters will be back in some form, which will depend on the steps players took in ME2 regarding each. In other words, everyone will be back - just how so will depend on how you treated them.TMA LIVE wrote...

I think what the magazines assumed was that since the ppl they knew hated Jacob, those ppl wouldn't have let Jacob live past ME2, and so he'd at most be a passing reference in their playthroughs of ME3.

I'm not saying that we know for certain Jacob's not coming back as a squad mate, but my point is that there's cause for concern, Vertigo.
That what? He's not coming back at all?

"Like most key characters in the ME universe, Miranda and Jacob will be in #ME3, but details beyond that would be story spoilers."
Help me understand your concern.

We don't know that for Miranda, Thane, Jack, Samara(Morinth lol), Mordin, Legion and Grunt. Same goes for the DLC characters (their chances are lower since they are DLC)
