It has been confirmed that there will be same-sex romances in ME3, correct?  So I'm wondering how will this be handled with imported saved games with already established  romance interests?

Meaning this was never an option before, so will players be able to change their sexual orientation? If so, Shepard has a coming out party? I'm kind of kidding, but seriously I'm ....  curious ;)

No one ever asked Shepard if he was gay. Could have been bisexual the whole time. When you never used any romance, he could have been gay the whole time.

The most logical approach would be that if you haven't romanced anyone before (or maybe Liara as a female) that you have the opportunity to be gay. Since that could be the reason a male Shep doesn't ddive into the sack with any of the women. However he could be bisexual of course but than it also would not matter if he stayed on his straight side as bisexuals usually go for the person and not the gender.

Obviously, that particular Shepard would be bisexual.

Pfft, Mass Effect is a shooter, shoot and kill, man! Romance is so gay.

...oh wait.

If you had a romance in ME1/ME2 as male Shepard, I imagine at most you'd get a "I didn't know you were interested in guys..." from someone after flirting with another male.

I have nothing against gays, but I don't really like that they threw this into ME3. I didn't want to have to go and say "no ******" every time I want to see what a male squad member is up to.

He was in the closet? But that raises an important question: Why? Was it his fundamentalist religious upbringing? Was it his non-approving soldier buddies? Was it society? Was it his own shame (aka Society)? We will most likely never know why... Only that in the face of oblivion, Shepard's true feelings rose up.

This should apply for all romances...

Or he just didn't find a man he was interested in.

Well, if there's the coming out of the closet tale there, suspect it's going to come with more opportunities for reporter punching...

Well my Shepard already showed interest in Liara even though she really wanted Ashley so it was kind of obvious.

As long as a choice doesn't pop up saying "Sorry, not interested" Then the actual response is shep flipping out and responding "ZOMG, YUCK, Blurgh! NO!"

You know, Like how Hawke handled Anders?

I'll be fine.

Spontaneity and attraction do tend to go together. If Shep wants to flirt with someone I'm certainly not going to stand in the way regardless of gender. It has the potential to develop Shep as something more than just a hero, it would be interesting to see some socio-cultural commentary in a game. I'm certainly not going to be fussed about saving Earth if bigots reign supreme.

What scares me is they have stated that there will be no more romance options, but they will include gay romance. Hello romance-able Wrex and Garrus *shudders*

Maybe....

If you don't romance either of them...

They romance each other! :wizard:

So he just got all the female tail he could get in the mean time? I'm guessing that if there are going to be M/M relationships, it's not going to be exclusively for people who didn't romance anyone in the two previous games...

Your Shepard will always be as straight/bisexual/gay as you make him or her. I think the gay romances will have to be pursued, just like the straight romances were before.

A bisexual Shepard is fine too.

There already was gay romance in both Mass Effect 1 and 2.
