Or he just didn't find a man he was interested in.

So he just got all the female tail he could get in the mean time? I'm guessing that if there are going to be M/M relationships, it's not going to be exclusively for people who didn't romance anyone in the two previous games...

Well, I'd say there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for that circumstance.

Anyway, this is directed to the topic at large: can we please not have this discussion all over again?
At this point, we have no idea which characters it will concern. All we know is that it has been confirmed, and we'll likely get more details closer to release.

Up until then, it's basically a no-calory exchange, considering these threads always descend into the most base level of discourse.
If possible, I'd like to see the topic at least disarmed a bit before we get to that point and someone decides to throw the straw man "retcon" into the mix or similar.

It has been confirmed that there will be same-sex romances in ME3, correct?  So I'm wondering how will this be handled with imported saved games with already established  romance interests?

Meaning this was never an option before, so will players be able to change their sexual orientation? If so, Shepard has a coming out party? I'm kind of kidding, but seriously I'm ....  curious ;)

Easy: actions speak louder than words. If you only romance your own sex, you're probably gay. If you only romance the opposite sex, you're probably straight. If you romance both, you are bi.

My answer is still validate if Shep is a bisexual, he didn't find a guy worth will to roll with but he did find women to roll with. But shunning all political correctness, I'm kind of tired of always having a gay option. People do realize that chances are 9:1 that Shep is straight? Same probably goes for the aliens. My biggest issue though is that it is never an integral part of the sf/fantasy world, while it could make for interesting story lines:
- the krogan being really homophobic, it's not warrior like and it's looked down upon in relation to breeding  or a lot of krogans swinging that way cause of the few fertile females
- or shep infecting reapers with homosexuality which will kill their need to reproduce, thus ending the extinction cycle (what was that reaper doing near that brown star?)

Oke, the last one really is a joke.

how many threads  will you still open , until the release of ME3 ? to see that they are completely irrelevant only to post your old homophobic prejudices without substance, which were discussed a hundred thousand times ago,
they don´t come true, no matter how many times you will open such a thread!

Hopefully the writters have a sense of artistic integrity, do the right thing and make only new characters gay. If it's a goofy unrealistic DA2 gay pride parade where character reduced to sexual playthings for the players... ugh, god, I hope not.

I'm all for the new option.

HOWEVER

We so need an ME1 patch to have a special origin intro for him.

"Well? What about Shepard? Earthborn...no mother listed"

"Doesn't have one, was raised by a pair of interior designers in San Fransciso"

"He got his whole unit on Torfin wasted on cosmopolitans"

"Is that the kind of man we want protecting the galaxy"

"Thats the only type of man who can defend the galaxy...FABULOUSLY!"

I have nothing against gays, but I don't really like that they threw this into ME3. I didn't want to have to go and say "no ******" every time I want to see what a male squad member is up to.

This should apply for all romances...

Indeed.

We don't know anything beyond that there will be s/s options for males and females, and that there will be new LIs, and current LIs turning shepsexual is "not necessarily true."  I'm sure the forums will explode once we do have more information, though.

It's not clear whether "new love interests" means "new character who is a love interest" or "romance with character didn't have one before." Joker would fit the latter.

Same-sex relationships were part of every game in the ME series - they just were cut before the games were released for whatever reason (so yeah, technically they weren't part of the games, but you know what I'm trying to say).

I always thought it was funny that in DAO and DA2 same sex relationships are no big deal for anyone (in game at least) but in ME they seem to be unheard of aside from alien girl-on-girl. So a medieval-themed fantasy setting is apparently more sexually liberated than the far future.
I think it has something to do with the fact that Shep is in the military. It seems like people can accept that female soldiers can be gay, because hey, a women in the military has to be totally butch, but a male badass soldier who is gay? Perish the thought, that could never happen.

Maybe BW was testing the water with DA2 and just decided to finally go for it in ME3 (although I don't know if anything has been confirmed yet EDIT: Nevermind, apperently it has been confirmed). But they don't change the sexual preferences of Shepard. If you don't want to romance a guy in ME3, then your Shep is not gay and he never was. But I don't mind giving people who want to be able to play a homosexual Shep the opportunity to do so.

And if Tali becomes a romance option for my female Shep, she is totally getting jumped

I don't think we know for sure that they were cut.
We just know that they weren't implemented into the game.
I've looked through the game files. There's no evidence that they've ever written one single gay romance besides Liara's. Male and Female Shepard just read off the same script.

Thanks for the link, nice to know that there will be a variety and not everyone will be either gay or straight, hopefully this will appease the masses, but I'm sure there will still be idiots that complain.

@Julie Shepard
Happy to help. It was confirmed a month ago, but I knew keeping those links would come in handy.

@bigSarg
Heh, I can only hope that the words of Casey himself will help. But yes, a lot of people still complained when it was confirmed.
