Hey, at least it's not Australian prices.

What are the Australian prices at?

Well for almost every new release Australia gets the highest prices, something like a hundred dollars.

Too true mate. Us Aussies always get flogged when it comes to the sale and purchase of electronic goods. Probably has to do with shipping costs and delivery, but that's besides the point...

We have a strong economy, and we still have to pay top dollar. Now I'mma definitely orderin' from overseas, like the US. I'd rather pay $50-$60 for the standard than having to pay up to $100-$120, minus the shipping and delivery.

But then again. it's probably as bad an annoyance for the rest around the globe. Image IPB

Agreed. Not saying the prices will be definite, so don't bash me over this, but EB Games has ME3 standard edition set at 108$ currently. From what I  have seen this is what they normally have set as the price before they know for sure how much they can milk it, but it is a reference point on how much it will cost. I am expecting the CE to cost around 140$ as long as the SE stays around 110$. This is EB Games, however. They do tend to crank prices up just a bit more than some other places.

Personally I stopped buying games from highstreet stores long ago. Their prices will always be higher than elsewhere for newly released titles.

Instead I use play.com and gameplay.co.uk which are cheaper and offer free delivery. ^_^

At play.com the standard edition is £27.99 with free delivery at the moment [Link]. Gameplay is charging the same prices as Game but I expect these to reduce nearer the release date [Link].

Indeed, with no competition I wouldn't get my hopes up for any price reduction.

So, Game is the only company selling the Collectors Edition in Europe? I can't find it anywhere else.

they just announced it so quite reasonable to expect it not to show up everywhere

You can also find it here. www.gamestation.co.uk/gs/mass-effect-3-collectors-edition-136428
But it's the same as ordering it via game.co.uk (same price, same postage, same delivery, etc...).

GAME was the only company to supply the CE of ME2 in the UK, so it's entirely possible it will be the same deal with ME3.

shopto.net said they will be finding out soon if they are going to be selling it. I hope to god they do because I really don't want to pay £69.99 for a game even though it is Mass Effect.

amazon.de is also offering it, but the price isn't much better. (And gamestation aswell, but they are connected to GAME, as they both belong to GAMEPLAY)

It'll drop in price nearer to release i bet, the current price is probably a guestimated price based on whats in the pack and how much it may cost to produce or something(no doubt ea only gave them the us price aswell).

We get flogged because people in Australia will pay the price offered, and the publishers and distributors know that, so charge accordingly. They claim it's because the dollar was US60c when they set the prices - but this price disparity has existed for at least 20 years regardless of the exchange rate. The higher retail costs and taxes are not significant, considering the unit price the distributor gives to local retailers is higher than it retails in Europe, before most tax and retail costs are considered.

Not to mention that when the AUD is now US$1.10, that both the publisher and distributor get a much higher cut, but they never feel compelled to pass that on. Yet a drop in the dollar is usually an excuse for another $10 price rise.

Simple way, if everyone in Australia and New Zealand bought the game from overseas retailers, the publisher and distributors would get the message and lower the prices. Obviously they try to get around it by limiting our ability to do so, flaunting supposed free trade laws, but where there's a will there's a way.

I get the feeling that the people who work at GAME are really lazy and will not upgrade my standard edition Mass Effect 3 into N7 edition even though I asked them to. Apparently they don't have 'The Code' in store to pre-order the collector's yet (I don't buy online), but now it's selling out fast according to some people on here? I'll have to visit everyday to see if they have this 'Code' and I am willing to bet that when they do get this code, N7 will have been sold out because of online pre-orders. Or do the online pre-orders need this code as well? There may be a chance for me....

I agree. 70£ (or 113$) Is a bit steep for a video game. I do like the artbooks that come with games though... pity I can't buy that seperately.

is it possible to ONLY get the ingame stuff from collectors editions. like lets say i wanted just the collectors assault rifle for ME2, do i have to have the collectors edition? dos it work that way for ME3 too?

id really like to have everything available to my character, and if being multiple copies of the game in order to fill the list, would suck.

Can't believe I'm saying this but I think I'm having second thoughts about getting the N7 edition....Artbook, an alternate appearance pack, a robotic dog that ISN'T URZ, a patch, metal tin and an awesome normandy avatar item. There is something wrong with me isn't there?

I was told the same thing. I was hesitant to preorder online from GAME again after they screwed me out of my DA2 Sig Edition 4 days before freaking release and decided to pop into my local store and preorder it. I was told that the don't have the deposit code for the CEdition yet but I should pop in every week or so to get sn upsdate. Been given my preorder receipt for both the CEdition and normal version. Just got to keep popping in or phoning up just in case.

I swear though, if they screw up this preorder like they did with my DA2, they will feel the full wrath of BeardShep!

Seriously? Double the price for a few extra goodies? Is this the case in the UK only, or is it the same for Mass Effect players elsewhere?

Darn, that's way too expensive for me.

i know exactly what you mean man! Every couple of days i call in and ask do they have the code yet and nothing. Too make matters worse gamestop and HMV are the exact same its incredibly frustrating because its such a great franchise (the game itself not the stores although im sure they have their good points too.) that alls i want is to make the most of the experience and the best way to that is through the collectors edition which may or may not be sold out by the time i get to place my pre-order...

I pre-order most of my games from game.co.uk. I don't mind paying a little extra as every single time I've pre-ordered from them, without exception, I get the product the day before release. I used to use play.com, but never again. I got sick of pre-orders not arriving until a week and a half after release day. There was one specific time that it was simply the last straw. When my item still hadn't arrived after over a week I checked to website to check order status - no sign of my order. Searched for the product - no sign of the product. Phoned their customer support - "Yeah, sorry, we're not getting that product anymore." Not even an e-mail to inform me of this. I haven't ordered from them since. Sadly, as play.com were the only UK retailer to get the black edition of AC2 and the codex edition of AC: Brotherhood I'm betting they'll be the only ones to get the animus edition of AC: Revelations so it looks like I'm gonna have to order from them again...
