I caved and pre-ordered it anyway. I'm hoping the price drops in the next 9 months. With Game you only pay the lowest price it's offered at during the period.

Still... this sucks.

I pre-ordered it. Yes its expensive, but Mass Effect 3 deserves to be bought as a collector's edition.

Haven't been able to pre-order the CE yet, so I'll probably end up paying £69. I always pre-order big games like this directly from the shop, then I don't have that agonising wait for the morning post to turn up at 5pm.

Don't go to pre-order yet, the deposit codes haven't arrived in most GAME retailers and I'm checking everyday to see if they have it so I can pre-order myself. On the day I pre-order I'll post on here signalling the time is right. You can still pre-order the standard edition for now but the N7 Edition's code hasn't arrived yet, so you can upgrade it which is what I'll be doing.

settled with pre-ordering at Gamestop, same price and everything and they dont have the code yet either but as soon as they do they ring their customers who have pre-ordered the standard edition and offer to upgrade it, at least they do where im from! So here's hoping!! Alas i would have prefered pre-ordering in Game, its by far my faavourite but i caved...

@AwesomeName Deposit codes. At least, that's what I'm waiting to get. Can't put anything down on a CEdition until they have the deposit codes for it, or at least that's what the guy in the GAME store told me.

I once made the mistake of cancelling my collector's edition for Mass Effect 2 when I thought I wouldn't be able to afford it. Come close to the release date, I suddenly have the funds to afford it but I lost out since the pre-orders ran out. I had to wait over a year till I could find a brand new copy of it with working codes for DLC.

I won't make the same mistake here. It may be double the price but I'll be damned if I miss out on this again.

I would really like to be one of the lucky ones that are getting the Collector's Edition, and by God, the game does certainly deserve nothing less. BioWare deserve nothing less.

But £70 is honestly, a bit too much. A patch, a few re-colored weapons, some new "threadz for tha homies" and a dog (wow - seriously?) do not justify the inflated price. 

Only way I would take it in a heartbeat, no matter the cost, was if I knew that an average playthrough would last for 45-50 hours. Considering that it is nowhere near that mark, but more likely in the "20-25" hours margin, it just doesn't cut it. Even with the added promise for more replayability. I confess, it tips the scales a little, but that's it. It's only "a little".

To the lucky bastards that already own the pre-ordered Edition - guys, I congratulate you and wish you many happy hours with it. God knows I could not be more envious.

To the fellas who are going to pre-order it from Germany - I hope all is well and you get an English copy. Best of luck to all of you.

What's a deposit code?  I just googled "deposit codes game.co.uk" and still don't know what the hell they are. :/   I've pre-ordered the thing just fine without having to use any such codes.

The first store I went to didn't let me take out a preorder of the game until they received something called a 'deposit code', the duder said I should keep calling/coming in to the store everyso often to find out if they had the code, and if they did, let me put down money on a CEdition preorder.

I really dislike preordering from GAME. This is just the latest hassle I've had from them, last time they cancelled my DA2 Signature Edition 2 days before release.

So.. game has an exclusive right to distrubte the CE in the UK? That sucks... so they can set any price they wish.

If you have a credit/debit card I would just pre-order from their website.  You won't be charged until they despatch the thing, so you could always cancel it beforehand if you ever change your mind.

Unfortunately, that's how I lost my DA2 preorder. I'm still waiing for them to refund my 2000 reward points. I ain't stressing it, still a long while until release anyways.

i know but take solace in the fact that it has been less than a month since the pre-orders have become available, and North American retailers and others would stock their region locked editions. It seems logical to me that their would have to be a number of CE preserved for European regions and that it seems incredibly unlikely that they would all go to online retailers and it would be even more unlikely that an oversight like that would be made so im guessing/hoping that we will get it in stores soon!! Cus in my opinion it cannot come fast enough, im checking in with stores bi-weekly so as soon as I'm able to pre-order il post!!
