Yeah! That's right. For instance, I bought a can of Pepsi Throwback and it tasted like ******. So I never bought it again! And now, years later...they still make the stuff because I represent the smallest possible fraction of people, apparently. But ooo, I showed them!
Ok lets go with the pepsi reference, can you point me to a store that still sells Crystal Pepsi
Because it was undrinkable. Nobody bought it.
But the vast majority of people are either neutral to the idea of multiplayer or welcome it. The only people who seriously see it as a straight negative are the sort of people who would come to a message board to complain about - a very small percentage.
Lol. Just take a look around these mp threads. It's not welcome.
Actually, the vast majority of people have no interest in Multiplayer, especially once you get out of the FPS genre. Primarily because every multiplayer game will result in the following, all seen within 10 minutes...
-Someone dropping connection as soon as things get started.
-Someone cursing like a 13 year old on mountain dew, who probably is a 13 year old on mountain dew.
-This person will also be highly racist, and talk about women like a wife beater.
-Someone who'll be trying very hard to grief everyone else.
-Someone being accused of cheating because he's winning.
-It'll turn out he was cheating a little bit later, he'll then join the Grieffer in trying to ruin the game for everyone else.
-Finally ending with someone rage quitting, with profanity significant enough to make the 13 year old blush.
Multiplayer's *always* had huge roadblocks against wide adoption, and it's the other people that are the cause of it. There's a reason why most X-box Live people have a Silver Subscription, and it's not because they desperately want to play multiplayer games, it's because it's seriously not worth the hassal because people can't act right.
There's a reason why they're adding Multiplayer to ME3, and I'll guarantee you they're adding it. EA uses Multiplayer as a way to force people who bought used copies to pay them a fee to access multiplayer options. EA wants the money from people who buy used, so they're going to add multiplayer to every single game in order to try and get money from the used game market.
