Not much new, apart from this interesting snippet:

'Half-way to safety, Shepard found a small boy cowering in an air vent. Despite offering to help the child the boy ran off, only to reappear a few minutes later while boarding a transport ship that was blown out of the sky mere seconds after take-off. As Shepard - newly reinstated to his Commander post by Captain Anderson - looked away in horror we pondered whether or not better dialogue wheel options would have spared the boy his fiery doom. If so, Casey Hudson wouldn't spill the beans when quizzed...'

There was also a snippet on RPG features:

'Weapons looked to have been refined yet again - something confirmed when Shepard set down his gun onto a table and the screen switched to that of a weapon customisation menu. There were only space for a couple of attachments, but even the smallest modification changed the weapon's stats. Equip special ammunition, meanwhile, and a small holographic icon attaches itself to the side of Shepard's gun to remind players of their limited costly rounds.'

The fact that weapon stats are back and more customisable looks very promising, and shows that even at this early stage Bioware is starting to put some RPG stuff back in. There have been a lot of complaints about the lack of RPG stuff shown, so I thought people would be interested to see that Bioware is just starting to lift the lid one some of it.

Well that puts to rest the whole Shep was hallucinating about the child representing humanity or some other psychobabble. Gun stats reappearing will appease the nostalgia-tards. Now to bring back armor mods.

I'm really excited for that weapon customization, but would we be able to do it on the fly? That would be awesome!

They also have 9 months to release data confirming specefic RPG elements and to relieve any concerns. Just because it wasn't shown at E3, doesn't mean it isn't there.  Also for me, an RPG is about the story, characters, and the emotional aspect revolving around those 2 things,  I don't care about the stats, but they're a good feature either way.  That's just me though

"Equip special ammunition, meanwhile, and a small holographic icon attaches itself to the side of Shepard's gun to remind players of their limited costly rounds."

Does this mean no ammo powers?? And a return to the ammo system from ME1, or something similar?

That sounds very much to me like an alternative fire mode with a secondary ammo that has a finite number of shots.

I think OXM is misinterpreting the ammo powers as equipping ammo instead. I imagine its the same system as ME2, but I don't know for sure.

Oh no. I had a feeling that 'boy in the vent' storyline would end badly.

Also nice that we officially get Alliance Commander rank back. Brings a sense of full-circle continuity to the game.

It's a shame that was spoilt by OXM to be honest. I bet that would've been quite a impactful moment to have seen the boy thinking "Yes he made it." only for his shuttle to be destroyed. I hope there are more moments like this...maybe a scene as Shepard is leaving on the Normandy showing families, kids, etc cowering in fear, crying....just to ram home to the player what they're leaving behind by leaving earth.

Good to hear about the mods on the weapons. One thing i'm hoping for is more powers for the squad memebers. I only thought about it the other day but it's startling how many less powers someone like Garrus has in ME2 compared to ME1.

I feel pretty much the same. The stats and loot and stuff aren't what make Mass Effect games good, its the story, characters, choices, music etc. That said, I am pretty excited by the idea of weapon customisation - particularly what I've heard about being able to change their appearance.

As for it being on the fly, I hope not. I find it more immersive to have to walk around the Normandy to do that kind of thing.

it never seases to amaze what people read into things that should be taken at simple face value - the kid was meant to emphasise a dramatic moment, nothing more.

kids in video games *shudder*: anyone wanting to take him on the normandy should be either shot or insta-fail/gameover.

If the answer is Yes, you can save the kid with different (non-apparent) answers, color me shocked. Bioware RPG's don't tend to have subtlety when it comes to wheel choices. IMO, they've always had the perception of: Save person, Leave person to fate, Kill them.

Ambiguity is something I think Bioware should implement. They did it in the VIP section with Morinth, so its quite possible that they could do it in ME3.

All in all, if you can really keep that kid alive through non-obvious ways, I'd be very very impressed.

Ammo powers is not a bad thing, you can change your ammo type at any time.

what about non-combat rpg stats? It seems the rpg stuff is only about combat.

You might want to put spoilers in the title there, but anyway WOW! That little boy thing really shook me, cant beleve it. The weapon thing is really sweet as well.

Thanks for posting this. I'm very glad to hear about weapon stats. That makes me a happy camper. I do wish we had some armor mods though, I love me some medical interface.

RPG stuff? Roleplaying? That's what the dialogue is for.

I think by RPG, they mean converting stuff to omni gel and constantly selling weapons to free up space in the poorly designed inventory. Basically the tedious stuff.

The ammo powers are the same as ME2's.

I'm sure that they didn't want to show everything, it being just a demo and all.

I think you're right, And I hope they don't bring back this stuff, it really hampered the first game. ME2 has a much better inventory and weapon selection, and ME3 looks like its heading in the right direction by improving this system.

We have dialogue wheel and if they put some choice in Demo that would give some heavy spoilers.
