Except the Justicars and Samara have never accepted 'necessary costs.' They aren't moral reletavists: that some evil is acceptable for greater good. The exact same argument put forward in defense of the Paragon actions can be put in place for the Renegade actions... and we know what her response was then, both for Renegade Shepard, and for Nihlus.AshiraShepard wrote...
I'd like to think that she wouldn't go after a Paragon Shepard.
She knows the Reapers are real and Arrival was an effort to slow them down to prepare for the events in ME3.
She might hunt Shepard at first, no having solid enough evidence of Reapers existing (even that's a bit silly...) but once ME3 rolls around and Reapers start reaping...? No. She'd know Shepard did everything s/he possibly could to prevent this and now Shepard needs help stopping it.
I support this Team->
Samara said she'd be back.

Thanks to cleavage, probably. And clever camera angles, when Samara is killing the merc when you first see her.
Not necessarily. Some people admire her character. See the "Samara" thread.
Ah, yes, the "I like you for your character" line. Do girls still fall for that?

The Code has 5000 sutras to cover situations. That is alot of situations to cover and it can be reasonably assumed - like you have done - that the Code can bend. Samara has shown that she can manipulate it herself to avoid situations she doesn't want. Like fighting her way out of the police station thanks to retarded superiors.
"The Justicars and Samara have never accepted 'necessary-costs."
We haven't seen enough of the Justicars to know this. They're so old that even other Asari - living for an average of a thousand years - say that the order is "from another era." Neither do we know what all those sutras say, there are 5000 of them and we only know what...five at best?

Except she didn't bend it. She followed it strictly: she had a prefered direction, but had Shepard not come by when Shepard did, she was going to butcher a lot of people with more authority to do their job than she did.AshiraShepard wrote...

Samara doesn't bend the rules. She doesn't break them. She is absolutely faithful to them. That is the crux of the Justicars.
But, thankfully, we do have a real live Justicar to answer some relevant questions for us."The Justicars and Samara have never accepted 'necessary-costs."

Hey, Samara, if Nihlus saved more people by killing that person, would it have-
Oh, right. Didn't matter.
How about this? Samara, we have a certain R. Shepard who continues to make greater-good decisions at the cost of immediate sins. Would that-
Oh, right again.
Hey, Samara, had you been aware of R. Shepard's nature and character before she came by to recruit you on a mission of galactic importance to end on ongoing genocide of millions, would you have still joined and-
You knowingly would have fought the person trying to end a genocide? Despite the nature of his purpose and motivation?
No, I'm not calling you a liar. I wish we could.
So, on one hand we have Samara's own account that, under the direction of the code had it not been countered by her oath of subsumission, she did not care if an act of harm against innocents was done for a greater good, has a particularly personal objection against those who do even if for good reasons, and would have been driven by her code to try and kill Shepard before Shepard had dealt with the Collectors had she known of Shepard already having done various unforgivable things, for the greater good or not.
On the other hand we have you... hiding behind a non-presented sutra that will somehow justify Samara's change of position that is largely opposing her previous other actions and words on what she would have been compelled to do in similar circumstances and scenarios.
Am I missing anything other than a 'somewhere in the 5000 sutras is a loophole for me and not the Renegades of similar good intentions who she has already made her opinion of clear?'

Your opposition isn't even to the argument. It's the disagreement about how Samara will view you. Why don't you stop being York anywhere and start being York-the-grown-up-and-able-to-handle-disagreement everywhere?

I absolutely love her as a character. Seeing as romance sparks were flying between her & Shep in ME2, mabye Bioware will work on that in ME3.
Samara is great and im keeping my fingers crossed that she appears back in ME3

On Topic: I really hope, and think, that Samara will come back and help my Paragade Shepard. For Great Ju- *ahem* TEAM BLUE FEVER!
And now back to my motivational thread where things are cheery.

Being oppositional is not the same as being an ass. Criticizing someone else's position isn't the same as criticizing them.

She is not, at all, a preachy one-sided paladin type. She had so much depth if a Shepard digs a little and goes through several of her conversations.
In fact - she's the only Asari I have come to like.

If (IF) Samara appears in ME3 (I hope so), I'd like something like this to happen.
Paragon: Samara as temporary Squaddie for that mission (nice and simple)
Renegade: Epic battle with one of the most powerful Asari in existence. In a word, EPIC
I totally agree. I loved hearing Samara say she will come for me. Makes me think I might be in some serious trouble. I keep picturing shep hanging on the edge of a cliff or something and BAM! Samara is there and pulls him up!
Or if you're renegade...a fight would be awesome to see. They should really have some fun with Samara's character. At least she will be in the game at some point. Can't wait to see how though.
