With Hawke, it's love. With Isabela, it's lust. You'll notice how Fenris also doesn't freak out and run away for 3 years if he gets involved with Isabela either. They keep it casual.

I've always figured that was because Isabela was w...a...y better in bed than my Hawke. Let's face it he couldn't get out of that room fast enough the first time with her.
