He is obcessive, cheesy and overbearing.

My favourite romance was Merrill, but she has her flaws too.

Anders, definitely. I did one run romancing Isabela for science, but I found Anders's romance to be the most... satisfying?... enjoyable?... sexy?... just "the most."

All of the LIs have their faults. Just like life, you have to find the set of flaws you can live with.

Can I just say that this thread seems unnecessarily exclusive? There are plenty of 'favourite romance' threads and none of them actively *exclude* same sex pairings to my knowledge.

If I'm wrong then I apologise. I just always feel that starting a 'debate' or even a 'discussion' by limiting the fields on which you can voice your opinion is reductive and doesn't foster real debate.

I choose... Hawke, As of this moment, if all the LI's are hawkesexual, I decree that Hawke is now a description of a gender type and f!Hawke and m!Hawke should be able to love themselves together in a beautiful mash of Hawkeness.

Dunno. I know that all of the LIs are available to either gender, but I find that my Hawkes seem to prefer one or another based on whether I'm rolling Marian or Garrett. I'm not saying that I consider LIs to be more suitable as romance partners for one sex or the other, just that the Hawkes I come up with have (so far) had personal preferences that might have inclined them toward one LI rather than another.

With this in mind, I interpreted the OP's topic to mean "When you are running a Hawke that prefers same-sex romance, who does s/he gravitate toward?" I have seen topics titled "If you were straight, who would you romance?" and "If you were gay, who would you romance?" so there is precedent for it. Though perhaps the OP should have included a sister poll, "Favorite hetero romance," to avoid resentment from those who only roll straight Hawkes.

Even if the OP removed the restriction, my answer would have been the same. All of my Hawkes would go for Anders. It is only with great effort that I can force myself to romance anyone else. I'll make a Hawke that will go for Merrill or Isabela on the grounds that he's completely straight and not attracted to males at all, but I can't do the Fenris romance at all. The moment I admit that possibility that Hawke likes men, the man s/he likes will be Anders.

Anders, because Hawke can't get enough of the crazy.

In all seriousness, the Anders romance is impacted greatly by the story, so I enjoyed it the most.

I have only done one same sex romance so far, and it was with Anders. So I couldn't tell ya. Also it would depend on how I was playing Hawke. Because to me it seems most likely that Anders is a top and Fenris is a bottom (I am way too much a yaoi fangirl), so my Hawke's personality would make a huge difference.

This is hard. I've yet to do a same sex romance, but from what I've seen of the M/M romance with Fenris and Anders, I think I prefer him with a girl, and Anders with a guy (and a rivalmance because it seems more like he's trying to separate himself from Justice rather than be a crazy abomination). I've friendmanced Anders with a girl, and... it didn't feel right somehow. (Maybe because by then, I became a fully-fledged Fengirl?) I'll rivalmance him with a guy next time I play.

Anders. It's actually incorporated into his character and is probably the most passionate of the romances.

I personally hate Anders in DA2 b/c all he does is whiny and complain and say cheesiest lines in existence, but I think his would be the best M+M romance. When you romance with a FemHawke he does all I listed above with added "I'll break your heart" lines every two minutes, while with a MaleHawke it seems like there's more to it. I don't really know about Izzy, I never romanced her. I HATE merril and will NEVER romance her again. I don't even know why I attempted b/c I hated her before then. And Fenris is the superior of all romances. Rant over. :)

The Fenris m/m romance is absolutely my favorite in the game. In fact, I now seem unable to do a playthrough without it. I like the same sex romances with Isabela and Anders too, but not as much.

Definitly Fenris. After romancing him as a male, it is indeed my favorite romance. Specially the "hate-love" concept (The kissing scene in act 2, Love it! )
All the other romances seems...boring for me now, unfortunaly. Can¨t really go back, although I kinda wanna try romancing Isabella once, as male Hawke though.

have to say Anders.

There appears to be a completely different dynamic when you play MHawke Mage.

Yes and no.

Anders seems less protective of M!Hawke than he is of F!Hawke, and he gives the impression that he is attracted to Hawke on more of a physical level, but it isn't as if the romances are *compeletely* different.

My perspective of the altered dynamic does contain some over-simplifications and gender-based assumptions, so it is far from unbiased, but it seems to me as if Anders downplays his protective tendencies because he does not want to belittle Hawke's masculine self-sufficiency. Later on, he says that he does not want to die before he has kissed Hawke rather than that he does not want to die before he has told Hawke how he feels because he is sensitive to the possibility that M!Hawke may not be as comfortable talking about feelings as F!Hawke.

Some men do speak to other men exactly the same way they would speak to women, but others do not. With Anders, the difference is subtle, but it's there.

I don't do the s/s romances since I always play Mhawke and romance Merrill. Always.

But even if I did do an Fhawke, it'd still be Merrill. Truthfully, she seems to need it most and is very lovable to boot.

I'm a sucker for the dynamic between maleMageHawke and Fenris. Rivaling all the way~
Tried the Anders romance, it was nice but didn't set my world on fire. I preferred it to the Anders/FemHawke because there was less "This is the skin of a killer" going on.
I wanted to get some f/f going for my Lady Hawkes but Isabella's like a the most awesome best friend ever, so she's effectively friend-zoned in my mind (though that feeling isn't as strong as it used to be so maybe one day...) and Merrill... I can't get past the female elf models looking childish to me and Merrill's childish personality doesn't help matters, so I can't get past thinking of her as a little sister for male or female Hawke (My first Lady Hawke wanted Aveline...)

And I am glad to see difference in Andersmance in case mHawke and FemHawke. With Mhawke he and Anders looks like friends become a lovers. Fenris and MHawke is like "Master- slave" I really don't like it.

Only if you play it that way, I certainly never got that vibe from playing my self depricating-sarcasticHawke... and I don't see how Hawke being male would feel more like a master/slave than a female Hawke since Hadrianna is right there in game as a source of torment for Fenris.

(don't mind me, just getting defensive of my most favourite pairing. I will defend my pixels to the death! *fisticuffs*)

THREAD NECROMANCY

I... can't romance s/s. I can't do it. that doesn't mean I don't enjoy reading other people's stories of it, or understanding why others can.. I .. just, can't. If I was 10 years younger, I probably would be all over it, buuut.. I'm just to firmly in the straight camp to enjoy the s/s romances on a personal level.

That being said, I'm very fond of M!Hawke/Anders AND MHawke/Fenris. They're so adorable you just want to squish them, and some of my favorite ff involve the two seperate parrings..

to play it though, I.. I just can't do it. ;p
