Who do you want to fill out the roster and who do you think will?  The people I definitely would like to see are:

Miranda
Jacob (I know a lot of people didn't like him or his PRIIIZE but I liked the dude)
Legion

I think it's likely though that Jack and possibly Thane will fill out the roster due to their status as LIs.  I would think Bioware would have to include any possible LIs as part of the squad simply to avoid the ragefest which will result if they didn't.

There are a lot of threads on the topic, but here we go...

Your list of confirmed squaddies is missing James Vega.

As far as speculation goes,

I'm going to say Miranda, Jacob, and Jack.

However some will likely come back as temp squaddies, like Wrex has already been confirmed to be. This is where I think Legion will be. Grunt, Samara, and maybe the DLC characters Zaeed and Kasumi may have missions that will allow them to temporarily join you.

My suspicion is that some ME 2 squaddies and others are going to be able to join up with you but not be on your squad. For instance, Mordin might join up with you and work with creating rearch upgrades for you. Legion could do this for you as will, serving as your ambassador to the Geth.

Just speculation though....

I would like the rest to be new characters personally, and have all the ME2 characters be cameos/temporary squaddies.

Grunt for me, have to have a Krogan squad-member on my team. I think I'd be fine with just six squadies again.

I really, really want Legion as a permanent squad member. Him and Garrus are, IMO, the coolest characters in the game.

My guess?

Grunt will be permanent, plus another new squadmate. But I'm really torn on Jack and Miranda. I can see them both permanently returning, but I can also see how both of them would work very well as temp. squaddies as we resolve the Cerberus problem.

The rest won't return permanently, if you ask me.

i reckon legion could be a permanent squaddie along with possibly grunt as we havent seen a krogan in there yet, wrex will likely serve on a higher level helping out with organizing the krogan (not sure if thats even possible). thane and jack are possible aswell. i reckon that the team will be about 8-10 strong, we also have to take into account the bonus character for the day one DLC it may be a previously known character or an entirely new one.

People are forgetting that Grunt, Garrus and Tali could be dead. Ditto with any of the ME2 squadmates.

They'll need to have at least some new characters. It's a reality. Not everyone will have had the foresight to keep all their ME2 squad alive.

I think if you don't have them alive, they might replace with some other squad mates from 2, or entirely new people with similar skins and models. You could be right, but we don't know yet because we don't talk with execs. That's why we're here... speculating.

Mordin is a confirmed appearance but not squaddie.. I know that much.

I hope Thane returns. He did state he would be loyal to Shephard for the future to come.

As to who else I really don't care all that much except to say that I could live without Jack. She's just too unstable for any of my Sheps to want a loose cannon around. I personally never make use of any of the Krogan squaddies. Legion is interesting to talk to, and I can see some story reasons for Miranda to be stuck in the mix.

Gah, got ninja'd.

From a racial point of view, what we have confirmed is 2 humans, an Asari, a Turian and a Quarian. I really doubt we'll be facing the Reapers without a Krogan! However, I doubt we'll have a Salarian this time... I'd rather reserve that spot for a Batarian this time around.

As much as I would like to have Grunt back, I think he'll be busy filling mating requests on Tuchanka.

I'm thinking that Miranda will be back, though possibly not as a squaddie--she might have some other posting.

Thane depends too much on how much of a time lapse there's been, though they could write it up so he's feasible (therapy, transplants, what have you).

I can see Jack being permanent, or not--I think both could work for her character, depending on how many variables they're using for the "y/n" squaddie question.

Zaeeed and Kasumi are unlikely to return, which makes me sad. They were the most interesting and dynamic human squaddies in the series so far.

I feel like Legion will be temporary, but man would I love it if he were permanent.

Samara/Morinth won't be back. I think we'll be lucky to see her as a temp.

Jacob... I dunno. Jacob wasn't particularly popular (which is kind of a shame, he was a cool guy--although he was definitely the forced LI for FemShep, which sucks) due to his troublesome habit of using Barrier, thus rendering his other powers useless at the beginning of a fight. I can't really see them just cutting him out, though. I wouldn't be surprised if he'd taken a new posting for the Alliance or something similar, making him unavailable as a squaddie but still open as a bro/LI.

Never got close to Jack, but I liked ME2 squad all of 'em.
Am interested in what Samara/Morinth is going to do.
