Confirmed Squaddies:
Ashley or Kaidan
Liara
Garrus
Tali
Who do you want to fill out the roster and who do you think will? The people I definitely would like to see are:
Miranda
Jacob (I know a lot of people didn't like him or his PRIIIZE but I liked the dude)
Legion
I think it's likely though that Jack and possibly Thane will fill out the roster due to their status as LIs. I would think Bioware would have to include any possible LIs as part of the squad simply to avoid the ragefest which will result if they didn't.
I think one slot will be reserved for your ME2 LI if I had one. So Thane, Jacob, Jack, Miranda. I didn't mention Garrus or Tali since they're in regardless.
I think there will be one or two additional slots that temp squadmates will rotate in and out of. Temps will mostly be ME2 characters, Wrex, and possibly, hopefully, a few important NPCs you met along the way (really wanting to see Shiala in action
Basically, I suspect your permanent squadmates will the the ME1 crew plus James Vega, and your ME2 LI if you had one. The rest will be with you at times as temporary squad members and I expect to see all of them in some capacity. Mordin is already seen on Sur'Kesh in the gamplay trailer. I suspect we'll see Samara on Thessia or some other Asari world, etc.

-Thane: is surely near death at this point. I would be surprised if he returned as a squadmate. Also, Thane played the sniper/assassin role in ME2. It looks like this Vega character (if that's him holding the Widow in the videos) is taking over the sniper role.
-Samara: Samara has also surely gone back to "fighting injustices." and won't be a squadmate.
-Jack: I think I could see Jack as a squadmate. I could see her not being so turned to crime after serving with Shepard in ME2. Even more so if you romanced her.
-Miranda: I think Miranda would return as a squadmate at some point in the game. Perhaps not a squadmate for the whole game though. If you choose the paragon option at the end of ME2, she does say, to the Illusive Man "consider this my resignation." So, if she's out of Cerberus, what else would she do? She was so dedicated to Cerberus before and now she would have absolutely nothing to do.
-Wrex: Probably not a permanent squadmate. He'll probably be like Legion (temp for certain missions) because he's presumably still busy uniting the Krogan clans and overseeing everything. Leaving that to be a part of Shepard's squad wouldn't make sense.
-Grunt: Not sure. He's part of Clan Urdnot if you do his loyalty mission but he does say "Shepard is my battlemaster." Also, in one of the E3 demos, there's a voice that sounds like an imitation of Grunt (maybe because many lines haven't been recorded yet - so it's just a temp VA) when the Atlas Mech descends from the sky.
-Mordin: Not sure either. He's in the gameplay demos from E3 which take place on the Salarian homeworld I believe but I have no idea whether he'll be a squadmate or like someone else said, just the research guy in the lab. Almost like being a sort of Q from James Bond.
Anyone else is a big "who knows" and anything could really happen. I don't see Kasumi or Zaeed being squadmates either. Also, I'm guessing there will be no more than 8 squadmates. And it's still a good question as to what happens if, for example, Garrus and Tali died during the suicide mission. I believe Casey Hudson said that they won't punish people for having a different playthrough and that it will simply be a different experience.

Bioware has stated everyone from ME2 will appear in some capacity in ME3 if they aren't dead. I do very much hope I can get one or two missions in with Zaeed....maybe an arc to secure the help of the mercenary companies.

I don't understand where people are getting this. The beggining of ME3 is supposed to be around 2months after arrival which shouldn't take place long after the ending of ME2. When we recruit Thane, he says he has 8-9 months left. Even if want to say taking out the collectors took a month after Thane's recruitment, that still leaves almost half a year. Nowhere close to being near death.

-Jack literally has no one else in the universe, and if you do her loyalty mission/don't literally screw her, she seems to warm up to you at the end of the game, and show serious respect. Use her as the biotic specialist in the SM, and listen to her comments. She calls you 'Commander', and means it.
-Miranda could have potentially quit Cerberus. Even if she didn't, I don't see her returning to them since they've been indoctrinated and are attacking you. Yes, she has Oriana, but she's a woman and doesn't need constant care.
-Likewise, Thane doesn't need to quit your squad to take care of Kolyat. He's almost an adult, and with the turbulent relationship they have, I sincerely doubt Kolyat would let his father baby him. As for his illness, he said he had 8-12 months until it starts affecting his performance and he can no longer fight at Shepard's side. ME3 still falls in the 8-12 allotted time slot.
-Jacob is the only one I can see actually leaving the squad, since he was in the Corsairs and later the general Alliance military before he joined Cerberus, not to mention he isn't the most popular character. To be honest, I tend to tie him in with Miranda, so if she stays, he stays. Of course he's his own character and I hope that shows.
Of course, this isn't counting extra variables, like loyalty. In one playthrough a disloyal Miranda made it through--would she be as willing to help Shepard in ME3? While I doubt loyalty has any meaning outside of the SM, it's an interesting thought. Or say you get Thane that lung transplant mentioned in LOTSB. He hangs out in the Med Bay for half the game, then comes back and you get an extra squaddie.

Jack or Miranda
Legion or Tali
Mordin or Grunt
Jacob grew on me a lot. At first I thought he was pretty boring but in reallity he is just less exotic. I think he was actually a pretty good character. It sounds like he is gone which is a bit of a pity. Morinth was an interesting concept but wasted by not seperating her out from Samara more. Samara is the most boring IMO and shouldn't be back. Kasumi and Zaeed were OK, I wouldn't mind seeing them back, but wouldn't want to replace any of the six above. Thane has too much overlap with Garrus and he is inferior, I just can't see how you can justify having both of them.
