I like EDI, but the truth is, EDI is a  huge liability. She is an Articial Intelligence created by Cerberus and designed using some Reaper tech. I think it is worth considering Cerberus might try to exploit EDI to get to Shepard and the Normandy. I think possible means of exploiting EDI would be through the Quantum Entanglement Communicator on the Normandy, or close proximity to a Reaper or a Reaper Artifact (ie. Object Rho). If the Normandy lands near a Reaper, engages a Reaper in close combat, or has its security system exploited, EDI could be compromised and indoctrinated.

As EDI is sentient life, wiping her entirely from the Normandy would be killing her. Are you willing to make this sacrifice if the time comes?

I'd wipe EDI out the first opportunity I get. I don't trust her, never have never will.  She's Cerberus tech, and as far as I'm concerned, that makes her suspicous.

Really, you think a sentient AI cannot become indoctrinated? I just assumed it would be possible, but I'm interested in hearing your reasoning as to why it would not be. Is there something in ME lore that says otherwise?

What @Someone With Mass said.

Geth Heretics joined Reaper by their own choice while True Geth didn't.

I convinced Saren to kill himself even though he was implanted, I'm sure I could convince EDI to stop being dumb and get back on my side.

In all seriousness though, I'd pretty much have to, wouldn't I? Either delete her or let the Reapers take me by EDI proxy. Also, I don't think AI can be indoctrinated.

Frankly, my Shep trusts EDI more than most of the rest of the crew, especially now that we know Cerberus has double-crossed him.

If EDI becomes indoctrinated it's too late to wipe her memory or shackle her.

Yeah, you set up that cabin webcam for a reason damn it!

But I think its a logical point, if WE can make a brainwash virus to clean the Geth, surely the Reapers could do likewise. I'd make Joker kill EDI, they're practically husband and wife.

Shep: Edi, you are acting strange why have you shut down the engines and all weapon systems??!!
EDI: Mr Moreau hooked up a Sony play station to my interface.
Shep: Joker!

This argument is mute since synthetics can't be indoctrinated.

The ME2 codex on indoctrination (not received until the derelict reaper mission) says indoctrination is a process that alters brain waves, or something like that. Since EDI does not have a brain, rather using software and calculations to think, the effect of indoctrination on EDI would be... nonexistent.

The only way EDI could be turned against you is:
1. TIM can somehow shackle EDI from a distance and control her
2. EDI is somehow hacked (I wouldn't rule out that reapers could hack other AI's, including geth) and turned against Shepard.

But indoctrination... No. Only organics can be indoctrinated.

Thanks for the codex quote. I do think EDI is susceptable to indoctrination as the Heretic Geth had that virus that acted as a synthetic-based form of indoctrination. Also, the fact that EDI was designed by Cerberus and with Reaper tech may make her even more susceptable to being indoctrinated than the Geth.

Wait, all sound arguments present in thread aside, who WOULDN'T want to wipe out a rogue AI controlled by the Reapers?

As much as I like EDI, I wouldnt hesitate for a moment to destroy her if she became a danger to my life or my crew.
