If they don't have ME3 on steam, I'll buy a physical copy.

If they try to force me to install Origin to use it I'll get around it somehow, probably with a crack.

Its really pretty simple. I don't want spyware on my computer, and thats all Origin is in its current form.

I mean, okay, their choice to make things like origin and use it for their games. BUT... they released me1 and 2 in steam.. PLEASE release ME3 there too.. dont wat two platforms installed just to fully play all me parts,,, that realy realy sucks.. see sims3.. the new sims 3 addons come to steam.. O.o
i mean when all me parts were always on origin, i would maybe use it, or simply dont play it at all, but this choice is.. well.. totaly unfair. "here, play the first games, but when you want to know how it ends, use our platform" <- WTF?

Yeah it morel ook like they gave us candies just enough for us to want more but when we want the end or the last candies they want us to come over their place to get it.

 Well I cant really say its smart.

^This.  Except I'll wait 6 months or a year first to see if they decide to release on Steam.  ...and if not, I'll pick it up for cheap in hardcopy, and get a crack to avoid Origin.

Origin is the difference for me between paying full retail plus for CE pre-order, and picking up the base game out of the discount bin a year after it releases.

I'm sorry EA, but I'm not going to buy Mass Effect 3 if it won't be available on Steam. Battlefield 3 was my last game which I bought not from Steam. It's not because I hate Origin, it's because I like Steam, it's best community right now and I want to have all my games in on place.

I'm going to predict the future here:

All of you who are stating right now that you're NOT going to buy ME3 from Origin if they don't release it on Steam WILL buy it from Origin if they don't release it on Steam. Simple as that. You can quote me all you want now. Deep down inside you now I'm right, don't you?

That being said, I'll not buy it from Origin too. ;)

Ah, and before anyone claims I'm a EA fanboy (quite the contrary in fact), I have 491 games on Steam, so that speaks for itself.

Are we clear? Good.

People like you are part of the problem.  If everyone would show any willpower at all and boycott ME3, EA/Bioware would have to listen.  I am going to stand firm and never allow Origin on my PC and I'm sure many others will too.  If I just can't help myself and have to play ME3, I'm going to get it used for PS3 to make sure EA doesn't see a dime.

I'm only buying the game if it's available on Steam. If it comes with Origin on Steam - I don't care, that's fine. While I enjoy both the Dragon Age and Mass Effect series of games and have on occasion bought attire and such relating to the brand, I am not that hardcore that I would stop using Steam.

The main reason I use Steam is to have all my games on one system, it is so much the fact, that this is the reason why I don't even play Blizzard games, Minecraft and so on - they're not on Steam.

I will note, I am not trying to push EA or Bioware to do anything with Steam, I don't care for online petitions. I just won't buy outside of Steam, period.

I won't.

If it's Origin exclusive, I'll either pirate it or just ignore it.

I have enough willpower to resist the temptation of reading the leaked story files. Though, I've watched the leaked beta vids. Haven't seen anything spoilerific there, but it has hyped my excitement about this game even more than it happened at the time of E3, back in June.
But even now I can say for sure: the demo "leak" was part of a plan; the story leak was not. But the demo did it's job anyway. I don't care anymore, whether this game will or will not be available on Steam, or if it requires or not Origin. I've already purchased BF3 and never even launched it. Just wanted to be sure I get the early access to the ME3 beta when it comes out in January. More than enough of an evidence that I will buy this game regardless of EA's terms of service.

No demo was leaked.

A BETA of a demo was leaked. They are different things.

I'll buy the game regardless of what platform it's released on, but I'd pre-order it right now if it were released on Steam instead of waiting several months.

I too hope Mass Effect 3 Limited Edition/Mass Effect Digital Deluxe/Mass Effect 3 makes it to Steam. I'll buy which ever is best, but I want it in Steam. My whole Mass Effect collection is already there and I'm waiting for ME3 to finish the trilogy and collection. Also if DLC could be sold on Steam that'd be great too. I really hate the damn Bioware points BS I had to put up with back in ME2.

I plan to get the physical delux versions of ME3 somewhere first for ps3, and later the downloaded version of it on Origin. I bought ME2 twice, once for console and again for PC, + DLC. So Far I don't like where Origin is going, but as someone else said: they're doing the same thing valve did quite a while back with Steam. I remember people hating it as well when it was first announced.

Then Steam got larger and larger, and improved: now people love steam. I only hope i can at least add it to "none steam games" So I can still chat with my friends while I play. I love the delux features. but I'd raher have some of those bonus' as physical things I can flip through or admire. as found here: http://www.gamestop....s-edition/91367

Who knows: maybe in a few months people will actually like Origin. I remember from before steam came out people thought it was the devil as well and hated it, and look how far it's come.

I had forgotten that this login on Bioware.com just won't stick and I need to be wary that I'll loose posts I'm making when I post them. *gah*

Now what was I saying...oh yeah. I got Origin when it was clear that Battlefield 3 wouldn't be on Steam. I don't find Origin to break down my computer, nor that it has worse conditions of use than Steam (though it sure doesn't have as many offers as often). It's certainly embryonic compared to the market leader, and if EA can convince other publishers to have non-exclusive deals with them on it, it's possible that competition will be beneficial to all.

What I don't like is having two windows. Here we are, fathers, contemporaries, or children of the age of information integration, and this is going in the opposite direction. I have a second monitor, I use it for the mail client and the Steam library. Now I have both Steam and Origin there. Based on how I'm feeling each day, one of the two windows will be on top of the other, and then the one below is as if it doesn't exist. We are becoming accustomed to doing things with as few complications as possible.

But this is an inconvenience, a nuisance, not an unsurmountable obstacle. It won't lead me to pirating games, it won't prevent me from playing them, it might just alter my schedule. In the end I'll purchase the edition of ME3 that I find to want the most and play it, contentedly, without feeling ripped off or the victim of great injustice, unless they prevent me from importing the savegames from the previous games, but somehow I find that unlikely, it would run counter to the interests of everyone involved, so I'm confident it won't happen.

I'll just grumble a bit, and then be a happy player. Problem solved.

It's been said lots of time in the long thread about Origin.

The first reason (and the most important) is that Origin is a data collection tool used by EA to make marketing studies. The way it works breaks lots of privacy regulations (nearly the one of every EU country).

It's even written in the EULA that the private information gathered with Origin may be used if they wish.

Honestly that is not even the issue with it,  Besides the fact that i'm going to run in a virtual machine so it has no infor for it to collect from me,  I really don't care all that much if EA feels like marketing more games to my.

The issue that I have a problem with and that should enrage EVERYBODY is this.

Saying mean things about EA on the internet gets you banned from playing games, even if its single player games.  I'm quite honestly shocked that everybody is more upset about the marketing thing than this.  If ever there was an issue that is important this forum banning going into game bans should be it.  There is no logical excuse for EA's actions here.

My bf was showing me this just before I opened the link. This makes me so damned mad I want to spit! I BUY a game I don't rent a service to use the game, it's why I will never buy a digital version of a full game. I even get a little huffy at the idea of DLC's for games.

If I buy a game, I expect that I own it, cd, tin case, crappy paper map and ugly plastic doll and all. A person can be as big a douche bag as they like, fine, ban them from multiplayer and forums, go hammers, but they still OWN THE GAME!!

Take a Porche dealer, for example.  Say you decided to go back to the dealership after buying one of their cars to get...Oh maybe a pretty Porche keyring to got with your car. While there you call the dealer a nasty name and say that you screwed his wife last night. Of course he's gonna be ticked, as may any customer who is there at the time... The dealer has the right to be annoyed, and to refuse to let you come to his dealership again.

What the Porche dealer absolutely DOES NOT have the right to do is ban you from using your car and simultaneously refuse to give you a refund for it. You  would after all, have paid for the product. YOu may be a douche nozel of epic proportions, and rightfully be banned from the dealership, but you shouldn't be banned from using a product that you have paid for.

Not to mention that this guy in the article you mentioned DIDN'T EVEN do anything! He was the victim!

How come EA is allowing Direct 2 Drive to sell ME3, but not Steam? D2D is already taking pre-orders for the delux digital download.
