Um, not sure if this is the right place for it or not...

Why do I keep seeing this when reading about this Origin stuff...
"The products and services that we make avaiable on the Websites may be downloaded or accessed for at least one year after you have completed your purchase."

So, we can only play the game for one year, and then what?

I've never seen anything like this. and yes, I am quite happy with Steam. Would be nice to use them for ME3 as well, especially if this is the practice of the Origin store.

It basically means that if EA decides to terminate services for a game a year later, you cannot ask your money back or sue their butt off. I think it mainly applies for failing multiplayer games. All Point Bulletin is a very good example.

It's worth noting but it's not something you should worry about. It doesn't necessarily mean that you have to re-buy your games a year later, it's just EA trying to cover their ass since almost no software can be supported forever.

Well....technically, EA could take back all your games a year later if they really wanted to bend you over and **** you in the ass, but that would be like committing business suicide considering how vocal the gaming community is.

Personally, I'm not taking any chances. As much as I didn't want to, I ordered the physical copy over here. I mean really, it's only $120.00 NZ because well, NZ games stores love to watch us bend over and take it.

I have good news and bad news.
Alice: Madness Returns did see "the light of Steam" after all. Which suggests that ME3, being a much larger title, will do the same. That is what I care about. Alice... Well, I have no clue what's this game about at all. I just read news and saw multiple sites mentioning it being the first EA game to not appear on Steam. Glad they were wrong.
The bad news is that Crysis 2 got pulled off Steam, but Valve said it's Crytek's fault, therefore it has nothing to do with EA itself.

What EA are doing is wrong and unfair; furthermore, Steam doesn't threaten people with the possibility of terminating a year after purchase.

Whats that about? EA is SATAN in the purest form. PLEASE Bioware give us ME3 on Steam I don't trust EA for s***!!! I have played ME1 twice, and ME2 like four times with all the DLC all on Steam but if it comes to only being able to play ME3 on my computer through Origin... I will have to say NO to ME3, and put my foot down once and for all. How far is EA willing to go for greed? Steam works because of its fast library of games from different developers, its a nice and neat package for gamer to have steam. I will make it my personal mission not to buy any EA game if ME3 is not is not offered on Steam, and will do this as a statement to myself fighting the disrespect EA has for gamers!!!

You are a bit out of the loop that happened weeks ago.  Things have moved on since then, it now looks like Battlefield 3 will not be available on Steam.  So if EA are willing to with hold Battlefield 3 from steam it doesn't take much imagination to see them doing the same with Mass Effect 3.

I think at this point PC gamers should just expect that ME 3 will not be on steam and take things from there.

My apologies I think the culprit here is THEPOPE1001 who decided to bump a bloody month old topic when there are at least another 2 topics on the same damn thing already on the front page.  Still I should've checked the date that you made your post.

And depending on local laws would classify as theft, local law beats end license user agreements and terms of service if someone actually wanted to take it that far but its highly unlikely to happen since if you had proof of your purchase EA would cave rather than be sued (plus it would make a interesting news story like the one about the guy that got locked out of DA2 for critising EA and then when the media picked it up it suddenly became a unknown glitch that was locking him out)

And that my friends is why we are pissed that it's not comming on steam..I mean there is a certain reliability with steam that you just can't get with origin because it's new and because it's made not as a tool with great servies but a quick cashgrab by EA. These are the same people who banned people for telling their oppinion of their games.

As much as I love the Mass Effect series and the Crysis series, if they are exclusive to Origin I will NOT buy ME3 or Crysis 2.  Meaning I will not support you as the developer past this point or Crytek for that matter.  The last time EA had a manager, I bought a few things through it and you know where it is now?  Nowhere, because that service FAILED.  I can't even redownload Northern Strike for Battelfield 2142 again and backup files only work through the installer.  I might as well just be one of those people who just pirates every game from now on, unless EA decides to put their games on Steam.  I won't even buy Mass Effect 3 for the PS3, because it's missing the original ME and I already own the first two on Steam.  I refuse to buy a 360 in order to play ME, ME2, ME3.  Make this right Bioware!!!  Put one version of ME3 on Steam, unless if you want me to become a pirate.  Arghhhh!

OK, why hasn't it yet been confirmed that ME3 is NOT coming on Steam? Is this a secret, or they haven't decided yet? Why keep many of us on pressure?
And, yes, I prefer this topic over the new one. It reflects better the short "history" of the "EA & Steam" story, and is a good read for newcomers, wondering what's this mess all about.

The most recent news we have is that BF3 will not be on Steam. Considering the both studios are owned by EA, I would not be surprised to see that ME3 will never be on Steam.

These digital download wars are getting ugly. I'll stick with my boxed copies for now.

EA sure has a bad habit of trying to shove their way into anything they see another company succeeding in, like Valve' steam. Unfortunately for EA, they also have a reputation of screwing things up.

They're sort of like the Cerberus of video game publishers; lots of power which they acquired by playing dirty, but most of their ideas and ventures are rather incompetent.
