I wanted to touch the subject of intusive pop-ups, obstructive hud and other issues I have/had with the game. I still have a hope some of the things will change during the developement.
Red veins from ME2 - I hope you wont add something similar in ME3, I am really pissed this is so common that almost every game uses it. Do some character animations, particles or other effects that appear on Shepard NOT ON MY GOD DAMN SCREEN. Nobodys targeting my screen, at least they shouldnt. Its Shep that is being fired at! This is not immersion.
Arrows. Suggesting to jump out of, roll to cover. If this makes way to final product I might as well call myself a dying breed.
Glowing object of interest...
Music intensified BEFORE engageing in combat...
Should I go on?
To cut it short, I have a question: who do you take us for? Did IQ dropped beyond the atlantic ocean? Are gamers demanding that kind of guiding light to shine from the sky, and a pointing finger of almight God/Allah/Budda/Satan/Whatever to help them pick up that herb in the corner of an empty room?
I would like to see a lot more thinking involved, less reaction and twitch (am not reffering to combat mind you).
So many markers and tips floating around my hud makes me think I might be an imbecile, coz I'm more focused on what-did-just-pop-up-in-front-of-me than actual gameplay.
At least make a amighty toggle, to switch those of, for the likes of me.
Thank you.

Second, I like the new arrows, just makes it look like a nice polished shooter, which is half of the equation.

If I remember correctly the color balance will shift and darken and everything will start to echo.DoNotIngest wrote...
No red veins is great. Wonder what'll be there to replace them?

Red veins are gone if you bothered to watch the demos.
Combat music has been an integral part in many games. Also I didn't notice it, the music just starts whenever you initiate combat and I didn't hear any spikes for every new encounter.

Just letting you know, red veins are confirmed as not being in the game.

I had not seen this type of thing before playing Splinter Cell: Conviction. It actually worked really well. You aim for the cover you want, you are minimally exposed while moving cover to cover, and it allows a significant use of stealth in order to manage the enemy encounters. I don't know if it will be the same as ME2, but I loved the way it was implemented in Splinter Cell. I think it would be an enormous asset to an infiltrator that is trying to, well, infiltrate.

It's called "context sensitive," and its not moronic. I think the arrows look good and fit into the scheme of the game as well. But I guess an old dinosaur like the OP wouldn't want anything to do with "dumbed down" gameplay.

Watch Idiocracy; Bioware is basically using it as their guide for this game.
The new game dev mantra: guide the player through EVERYTHING, leaving not even a second of question as to where to go and what to pick up.
Yes, society has been dumbed down, and judging from the responses here they are completely unaware.

Um....I don't think society has been dumbed down. It's always been dumb.

I'm clearly not talking about obvious things like pressing the trigger to shoot, so don't patronize me please. I'm talking about quick tooltips showing someone how to use the arrows to move between cover and whatnot.

I will point out that for every message I have ever been sent saying "theer are too many tutorials" or pop ups or whatever, I have a lot more asking for help as they do not understand how things work.

After I went out of cover for the fifty third time, I don't really need an arrow telling me how to do that.Massadonious1 wrote...

But if you like accidentaly rolling forward instead of shifting you to your right or left, then sure, we should let you turn them off.

I personally liked the red veins only because it clearly showed that I was dying. I haven't seen what the screen looks like when a player is almost dead in ME 3, but as long as it's not only plain red around the edges of the screen.

Very sad, but very true at the same time.
Fortunately, some games are still above the moronic level.
