Im calling it now a friend/rival system is in the works, lol.
Are you thinking something like what BioWare did in Dragon Age, with the approval meters?
We better get points if they were recruited before and did their missions.
Starting on 0 will be weird just like it was with Oghren in DAA. <_<

This. The close up from Shepard´s screen had two tiny bars, blue up and orange down.
And as this tiny bars weren't in the meters of Liara and Garrus, i'd say they don't gather any points, and the meters on their character screens are just leftovers. No approval system.

To be fair it makes sense. I mean, if you are a puppy kicking, tree burning hardass, it would not make sense for you to offer to rescue a kitty for free.Epantiras wrote...
Please tell me the paragon/renegade bars are just placeholders: they must be two separate meters just like in ME1 and ME2 otherwise characters that swing from paragone and renegade will stay in the middle ground and be totally useless. Never liked the one-meter solution in games like Jade Empire and Kotor.

At a guess, I'd say this is the power to generate grenades with your omni-tool rather than the skill of throwing a grenade. Infinite ammo returns!Calinstel wrote...
Why the hell are grenades a power? ME1 had them and they worked perfectly or is it now, due to all the upgrades, only highly trained professionals can chuck a hunk of metal?
Seriously, if I'm right I'm utterly okay with that. Soldiers deserve a cool attack power to balance out the biotics' kinetic awesomeness and tech-heads' ability to generate Chikkitas of their own. And I say that as a guy who's only ever played a Soldier in the demo for the lulz.

Like lift orb sounds cool might be better than pull since squadie pull was kind of weird since you couldn't;t give it arc.
Don;t like ammo powers.
Don't like that they kept increased costs for higher level powers. Nothing sucks more in an RPG where you can't do a damn thing on your character building side since you have to save points, well okay wasted points suck just as hard or more and guess what you get that too with this system.

It seems that Paragon and Renegade are simply put in one line, but are counted separately, there's a dividing line at the middle, though it's hard to see.
As for the blacked out responses because not high enough Para/rene,... I think it's better than having them as actual skills in ME1, where they seemed almost mandatory. For me at least. What I am hoping is that there will be opportunities where you can only use Para or Rene, and not both. That kinda took away the specialness of your choices me thinks.

Pros:Cons:
- Although it's still streamlined like ME2's, it looks like there are six ranks for each power instead of 4 like ME.
- Grenades as a base power for Soldier class
Meh:
- Ammo should be part of Weapon Mods, not actual powers. <_<
- Hopefully Concussive Shot and Fortitude gets buffed because they sucked in the second game
Concussive Shot didn't suck so much as adrenaline rush was so powerful, it was generally considered better to save your cooldowns for AR.
I still use CS a lot on my Revenant soldier though. I just find it entertaining.

If I were going to venture a theory (if this isn't a mistake, of course), I'd say it's going to be less Dragon Age "approval," and more KOTOR 2 "influence." If I were tasked with a way not to derail characters while still leaving Renegades unpunished? This would how I do it, and that would need a sliding meter as opposed to two separate ones like Shepard has.

Love the look of the interface. Also like to see Liara's lips back to their original lilac rather than LotSB's dark blue and her eyes back to blue-grey rather than royal blue. (I know some people liked those changes, but they weren't my cup of tea. Loved Liara's higher-quality LotSB texture otherwise.)

Indeed, FPS treat grenades way, way too lightly. In RL soldiers like to give the things a wide berth. Nothing beats strapping bombs to your harness.
