i clicked this thread thinking it was going to be an interesting idea about how eden prime becomes the new homeplanet for humans since earth got all busted.

but nope, dumb cliched "it was all a dream" idea.

What I was thinking too.

Guys, this is the most rational way they can use to start another trilogy.

Dream worlds are quite common in literature.

deus ex machina is also a common thing in literature and stories.
doesnt mean its good lol.

there isnt enough psychological cues within the story for it being a dream to make any sense.
generally when you do dream worlds theres often subtle hints that its not really reality but theres none of that in the ME series.

a surprise twist ending like that needs clues that its goign to happen, not obvious enough clues that everyone realizes whats going on before it happens, but enough so taht after you're shocked and see the twist, that you can look back and go "ohhhhh so thats what that meant when this happened and this was a clue that no one picked up on, ok this makes sense now"

not "sup! IT WAS ALL A DREAM LOL TWIST ENDING M NIGHT SHAMALAMADINGDONG STYLE!"

Yes mabye, but this isnt litrerature is it.

On a sepearate note if it was a dream (and therefore would ruin ME) Feud would have a field day with all the things he could analysis.
- authority issues
- relationship problems
- anger management
- acceptance issues
the list goes on.

It would certainly be a surprising twist, though. Jarring to many, even.

No Just...

no /Sten

But the endgame cutscene I think should be determined on your choice of:

1) LI
or
2) Human Domination or Galactic Savior

If you have and LI your final end should be with him/her.

If not then its either Earth or Eden Prime by your choices on how you saved the galaxy.

I disapprove of the dream idea, but it would be fun if the game ended with Shepard revisting the place where it all began.

It would also be a surprising twist to find out that the Reapers only attacked Earth for Cheese, Waffles and tentacle porn, would you consider this a good development simply because it's surprising? Surprising does not always equal good as this example demonstrates.

haha, i thought the same thing when i read the title.

Shepard saves the galaxy, next you see the Normandy headed to Eden prime while Shepard tells Joker to taker her in "Fast and quiet," the Normandy lands, Shepard gets out with his LI, places his tags on Jenkins' Grave, and Shepard and his LI are holding each other looking at the gorgeous Eden Prime vista as the camera pans out, fade to black. credits. The End.

And after explaining the dream to Kaidan, Shepard realizes that his head really, really hurts. He closes his eyes and blacks out, and then there's a view of the ceiling all blurry-like. Shepard is waking up again, but this time he's on the floor. He hears Kaidan's voice.

"Hey, you okay? I told you not to throw too many back, the drinks at a Nar Shaddaa cantina can knock you right on your rear."

Revan shakes his head, looks at Carth and blinks. "I just had the strangest dream."

Yeah and those "it was all a dream" stories are some of the worst ones out there.  I like the idea of more mass effect in the future though.

Of course not.

Sigh. People never like ideas like these for some reason... Everything had to have happened, or it didn't "matter."

No, it's just a terrible and horribly uncreative plot device.

A terrible and yet strangely marvellous idea.If ME3 were to actually end like that then it might just knock NWN2 off the top of my 'most pointless wastes of time ever' list.
