Skyrim looks like but it isn't much of an RPG anymore.

Yea, a game is only an RPG when you have loot to collect. Dat's an RPG son! </sarcasm>

You know, I was looking at the Dead Island and Tomb Raider E3 trailers and loved the music to both, however the Tomb Raider trailer music can't be found anywhere. I would actually like to know who did the Dead Island E3 trailer music since it sounded epic.

What confuses me is that the ME3 site doesn't say where these nominations came from...

I know the IGN results are in, and Bioshock Infinite cleaned up for some inexplicable reason. I think they gave ME3 the Best RPG award, which is kinda funny really.

Just looked at the IGN results. Bioshock Infinite deserved those awards.

At least ME3 won best RPG. :)

Bioshock is a stupid game with a flawed story. I dont see why it got so many awards over games that are 10x better visually and gameplay-wise.

I'd like to be able to post a rant about how EA strongarms awards out of the industry for games,  and how ME3's really not worthy because it's more marketing driven than anything else...

...But after having read over E3's stuff,  and noted that everything is a Shooter,  a umpteenth sequel to something,  or both (Even when it doesn't make sense,  like X-com),  I have to say...

...Despite all the issues I have with ME3,  it really is the best thing shown at E3.  Which,  IMO is pretty sad,  because there's no competition aside from Bioshock.  Sadly Dead State and Age of Decadance weren't there.

Ummm....None of that is an RPG mechanic...an RPG mechanic is a Character that is defined seperate from the player,  Character based skills,  and such.

It's a really sad commentary on the state of the industry when people think having a story,  not being stuck in a corridor,  and having different endings is an RPG.  It's even worse when people think that being able to pick your weapon loadout is an RPG.

That's just a huge red flag for how stagnant and badly marketed the Industry is at this point.  Not flaming the poster,  honestly it's the Industry's fault for labelling everything they can find "RPG!" just to try to sell a couple more boxes.

That said,  the word "Immersive",  doesn't mean anything.  You aren't "Immersing" yourself in any video game unless you've got one of those rooms that all 4 walls,  ceiling and floor,  are LCD panels in order to make it look like you're in the game.  It's a marketing buzzword,  heavily overused,  along with "Groundbreaking,  Revolutionary,  Evolutionary" and apparently now "RPG".  None of them have the intended meaning anymore.
