Don't know if this has been asked, but I saw that ME3 will have Kinect support using voice commands for the Xbox population.

Do PC users get the same kind of support with our headsets? Or is this an Xbox exclusive setup?

Who cares? It's a stupid thing that would break immersion.

Its a Kinect exclusive as they are using the Kinect SDKs for this feature

Well that is just a poo poo on the PC user base me thinks.

Well, PS3 users probably won't get it, either, so PC users won't be in that boat alone.  Not horribly worried about the feature, as I never had a problem selecting options in ME games.

Actually I would like that. Got a headset lately and if the option would be there, hell yeah I'd take it.

Not for choosing dialogue, naw, but in-field commands like "Garrus, Concussion Shot" would be awesome to have as a PC user.

I don't know, I was pretty pumped when I heard about it. Ima hoping they will introduce it still for all platforms. My thought is maybe they are keeping it quiet while at E3 to keep the Microsoft people happy about having some cool Kinect advantage over their competitors.

Its probably only getting added because Microsoft are really trying to push the Kinect as a platform. I don't think it will really affect the game too much

Technically, you don't need support to be able to use voice commands on PC. Vista, and I'm sure Win7, comes with a VR accessibility feature which can be used in games. You tell it to "Press 'p'" and it presses 'p'. I use it all the time in FSX. Flight sims FTW, btw.

Edit: Oh, and the VR accessibility feature in windows reads screens (on the internet, at least), so if you say "forums" on the ME website, it will click "forums" for you.  This might work in-game if, say, there were a button labeled "concussion shot."

Otherwise, you can call up a graph overlay on the screen and use it to navigate the mouse cursor and click on something not recognized by the program.  Neet.

When I saw the kinect demo my jaw dropped I always read aloud my dialogue options anyway if I had a penis it would've gotten a boner right there. If I could do that on my PC I would be soooo happy.

Why would you even want that rubbish? You're so lazy now your hands are broken? It's a stupid gimick and bogans and causal gamers who like to make asses of themselves are welcome too.

Voice Control's a gimmick, just like the rest of the Kinect system.

Of course not. Voice recognition is such an advanced feature that it can only be handled by the Kinect technology.

^^^ Blatant lies.

I am honestly not very good with hotkeys, particularily because I am not fond of the WASD layout and thus do not have my hands ready at the respective buttons.

And dear god I would not manage the dialogues with Voice Control Image IPB but actively ordering A Squadmate to use his/her/its power without having to pause the game or search the right hotkey is quite a nice feature.

Also my dear Sesshomaru47, ... a less offensive tone would be appreciated.

Who cares. Its quicker to hit a button than to even speak a single syllable. Also, just think of what would happen should you go on a mission where a particular skill would be useful. For example an anti-Geth mission, you voice-order an overload, and you plus your squaddies all rip off an overload on the same target.
Besides, unofficial drivers for the Kinect on PC have been available since November last year.

This ^

It was so forced in the demo, made me want to punch something ugly, like a batarian.

IF you can reach the button. I play with the normal arrow taps and the few control keys hotlinked to that area. Power hotkeys however have only been accessable via the number taps. Which is half accross the Keyboard, a motion prone to error and thus automatically slower if you want to get the right button pressed.

Why I don't the WASD layout you might ask?

I nearly never played a Shooter or the likes utilizing that sort of control, more RTS games like CnC or Build-and-Conquer games like the older Settlers, Anno and Civilization where the arrow keys are central, not WASD.
Due to this, I have frequently hit E, Capslock, Q or "</>/|" instead of what I actually wanted to. I just don't have the feeling for that layout.

It is only a gimmick, but would be a nice gimmick to people that want to use it. And if by any bad luck, and I really hope that is just a scam, ME3 really should implement a Multiplayer, Headset support would be present anyhow (DO NOT WANT! The MP I mean!).

Also for everyone firing up their power at one command:
Restrict power usage to you if no squadmate is specified and allow squadmate power usage only if said one is specifyed (Like in the Demo: "Liara - Singularity!"). Problem solved.
That utility would probably be incredibly buggy and the VR prone to failures (or people's accents being not recognizable Image IPB) but if it would work, it might be pretty beneficial.

At the very least to me. And that is the point why I am asking. I am egoistical afterall, just like anyone else. I want the feature because I could take advantage from it. So give it to me.

Seriously though, if ME3 and other games had full support for this device, I would not hesitate to lay out the coulpe of hundred bucks it costs.
Image IPB

Its a "left handed mouse" to be used in conjunction with your standard mouse.

THAT looks like it is a pain in the ass to use simultanously to one's mouse. I am somewhat omnidextrous (though with a slightly dominant right hand) but I can imagine it takes a lot of time to get accustomed to the controls and to master them.

They dont really take that much getting used to, no more so than the left handed throttle/button controllers you already have available for flight sims.

But those are mostly two-dimensional inputs if you know what I mean. Forward throttle, reverse thrust, and a few additional control keys.

But not three dimensional back and forth, sideways and buttons all over the place. It certainly looks worth a try though.

Kotaku had an article explaining why.

http://ca.kotaku.com...y-and-heres-why

Or if you're too lazy to read: Bioware didn't write any voice recognition software for this feature (it would require a lot of extra work)... the Kinect hardware has built in voice recognition in the hardware & software itself, saving Bioware months of work & cost.

To make it work on microphones on PS3 / PC, they'd have to write their own voice recognition software. And I'm certain we'd rather they spend those resources & time elsewhere.

I wouldn't use it on the PC version, I have played the 360 version and I wasn't impressed by the limited number of abilities you can map and I think this will help bridge the gap between the keyboard and the controller.

This. I wish it was usable with the normal headset but I might end up with a Kinect at some point anyway.

It's faster to hit a button but on consoles we only have one. If I want Garrus to both Overload and Concussion Shot then I have to pause the game to do it, and that just irritates the hell out of me.
